...and you've never heard of QPR? I sincerely doubt you've been following Man U since 1986. Or if you have, you haven't been doing so very closely.

As Art has just 'implied' - utter utter bullshit.

You started following Man Utd in 1986 - that gave you at least 20 league matches, in which they faced each other before QPR got relegated. That's not counting any sundry cup matches that happened in the intervening period.

Don't try and pretend anything around here.
    People actually know about football.

you and your stupid team, Yes i support manchester united...... from the U.S. i've never been to old trafford. If someone said wba, would you realise that they meant west bromwhich albion at that instant?any manchester united fan is just another glory hunter to you people,,, supporting teams in the lower divisions and teams which have not won anything makes someone a 'loyal fan' right?

Well, it is my league so obviously without a second thought, yes - I'd know what you were talking about.
And anyone claiming to be a loyal supporter of a team in the very same league as WBA play - I feel ought to realise what WBA stands for.
It's ok if you don't, but then don't go round claiming to be more of a loyal fan than is blantantly obvious.

Correction: Any Man Utd fan that claims to support them but doesn't know several of their opponents team names over the years, whilst still maintaining that Utd have recieved his support for the last 17 years will be called a glory hunter - as that is quite plainly what he is. Though to be fair it's probably similar to the reasons most English people 'follow' (well, just know of really) the NY Yankees.

And yes the very fact that one supports a team from the lower divisions, rather than the glitzy highs of the top 5 Premiership sides, does make someone more loyal. Heck, it'd be nice to be able to see QPR on tv all the time and it'd be nice if they could play in the Premiership, competing against the likes of Arsenal et al - but we aren't. We could get all these things if we just started supporting Man Utd - but we don't, which by my big book of definitions, makes us inherently loyal to the club.
You started supporting Utd in 1986 - which is about the same time I started supporting the Chicago Bears, they won the Superbowl that year (I think) and had 'The Refrigerator' playing for them. Do I support them really? No.
I look at the results maybe in passing - but I survive without knowing. I also don't claim to have supported them since that time - because I haven't.
And here's where you come in - you're just like that, but with Utd.

Basically though, the bottom line is - don't try and fool people around here into thinking you've been a fan of Man Utd for as long as you have. No-one can be for that amount of time, yet still show the ignorance you do - it's not possible.

Anyway - if you want a potted history of QPR try here

    Who IS this jacknut????

Why don't you quit while your only several hundred yards behind, junior?

Yes, I would instantly know what "WBA" meant, because I am a football fan. Shoot, I even know what "Albion" means!!!

If you really are US-based, then you should appreciate that being a ManU(re) supporter is roughly equivalent to deciding to support the Yankees, or suddenly becoming a Cowboys fan in the early 90's. Buying titles is one thing (that manure has apparently mastered); actually putting your heart into a side is quite another.

Blood is thicker than water...and Hoops are wider than the brains of Old Trafford poseurs. Now fuck off, and be gone!

But first, quick: without googling, name 5 starters from the '86 manure side! Do that, and I'd be happy to grant you status as a United supported...I'll still question your taste, but that's a different matter.

    [end of rant]

    No, fuckwit.

Read what Art said in response to your questions.

In THIS country Man Utd fans, even the glory supporting ones, show FAR FAR more knowledge than you've exhibited.
And it's your ignorance, or rather your attempts to tell us you've followed Utd since 1986, that has resulted in the animosity shown to you.

Yes Man Utd have glory hunting fans, more now than ever before. But were the hell did you ever see anyone on here say that all of them were? They have always been a popular club, for reasons that delve into geography amongst others and would fly over your head, and because we (or at least I) know something about the sport and it's history, wouldn't ever say that the whole of their fan base is made up of glory hunters. Of course it isn't, don't be stupid
What we are asserting though - is that YOU are a glory supporter. Not by definition of you supporting a club that has a reputation for having glory hunter supporters - rather because you show ALL the hallmarks of being one.
You 'support' Man Utd but show absolutely no signs of having done so.

And yes when they were crap like QPR, they did have proportionately fewer supporters than they did before they got relegated. It's what happens.

I don't know why you just aren't honest with everyone. You'd have got a far better reception if you had. It's the fact that we all know you're talking out of your rear end, that grates here.

On a related note, I thought I'd mention to him that the captain of his beloved Utd in 1986 was an ex WBA player.
But I feel we should all pace ourselves with this one.
There's plenty more to come I imagine.

Infact, I'm considering following his posts just to see if he really is as clueless as he appears.
Bless him for trying though - he's quite fun really.

If you can prove to me how I received such treatment* as newbie on BSSM, I will gladly comply!! :D You strike me as a proper Man U supporter (and I respect that...while still questioning taste 'n' such); this dick does not.

    * Hint: I did not receive said treatment! :)

That's really it, isn't it...I don't really care if he supports Man U, or just decided in the past week to start following Man U becase they're really good and win everything (unless he's the sort who picks a new favorite team every season...or worse waits to pick a favorite team when it's clear who will win the league). Just don't lie about it.

no, im not a glory hunter, and i did not start supporting man utd from last week just because they we were winnning,, i've been here longer than that. the only reason i came to big soccer's manchester united forum was because mufc.co.uk got shut down.

i do not follow basketball, american football, or baseball. so dont start about lakers and the yankess and all that ************. you guys wouldnt understand.

If you'd like to see someone who lacks understanding, search out the nearest mirror.

Here I was, all ready to give the lad straight-props for honesty (though no real points for spelling or grammar), viz:
Look, take a cue from a Man U supporter like BuffloSoldier; it is possible to do it in a classy manner (shoot, even I wax nostalgic about Best, Busby's Boys, and I really like Giggs, and really liked Cantona). You came in and dogged QPR for no discernable reason, and got smacked around for it. If you'd posed your question in a civil manner, my guess is you would have received a civil response. You certainly would have from me. But making a "since 86" claim, while not knowing "what the hell QPR means" is devoid of logic.
    inn't that the truth?!?!? :)

Honestly, I wouldn't even put you at the level of "glory hunter" - at least that group know who "their" club's opponents are. You are more "corporate shill" masquerading as a football supporter. Surely an embarrasment to even the glory hunters.

    01/01/92 - ManUre 1 - QPR 4
