    from the above article:

a pretty emphatic win, looking at the voting. all the articles today mention his 12 goals, great return from a midfielder, but haven't mentioned the 10 assists to go along with them.

MoRado, even you call him lo gorda?! :(

Will Carlos Hernandez have a "personal defender" on him now since he won the MVP? I remember watching last years final where a defensive mid from Adelaide i think was following him around the whole match even when Melbourne was ahead in the score (which is a horrible tactic IMO). I hope not since it seem's Sidney FC will be a tough rival for Melbourne in the playoffs.

How is Angulo doing? I've read that he has a few assist and has started a few matches...like i said before...he is talented...but too skinny and weak for European-style football like the A-league.

Sydney have tactically had the wood on us this season, compressing the midfield and not giving us or carlos much room to work with. It's not particularly attractive, but it's done the job [and in a less cynical way than having a "tagger" (man-marker) as Adelaide did.]

So far our coach has yet to come up with a way to counter this, much to the supporters' frustration. We play far too narrowly, it makes it easier for the opposition to park the team bus in the box against us. We've got two more games against sydney coming up in the play-offs (1st and 2nd play off home and away to go directly into the grand final), the first on this thursday. i'm hoping we come up with something to combat their tactics rather than relying on trying to simply overwhelm them on the counter.

Angulo has done well, though is probably still finding his feet in the league and so is a little inconsistent. he was subbed last weekend when he was looking most effective of our attacking players, who were on the whole fairly impotent. he needs to learn to ride the bumps like carlos has, but everyone still has high hopes for him.

Still Portland will be the next MLS team for the 2011 season so a good step there.

Just as a matter of record being ignored by the draft means little since players have to meet alot of conditions to get their name in the draft pool. Also alot of US players were not selected in the draft by choice since they decided to tryout either in the USL or 2nd division Europe so they are not stuck with the mandatory 4 year contract with the MLS who own everyone for the first 4 years out of college. Add to that the fact that the USL sometimes pays better than the MLS when it comes to rookies.

Still, not bad for someone straight out of college.

oh, carlos scored in Melbourne's 2-1 win against Sydney last Thursday night. Marvin didn't get alot of time, came on after we lost our lone striker to a red card, in all likelihood resting him for the next couple of weeks.

    Europa League
Werder Bremen 4 FC Twente 1 (Bremen advance on 4-2 aggregrate)

Bryan Ruiz played 73 minutes and had an assist in FC Twente's loss. Bryan Ruiz IMO was without any doubt Twente's best player but he missed the golden chance to make the score 3-2 when he hit the post with only the keeper to beat...then 1 minute later Claudio Pizarro scored for Bremen. I'm sure the scouts that are watching Ruiz left impressed since he basically owned Bremen's defense but he tried to do too much at times as well. I wouldn't be surprised if top Bundesliga clubs start showing interest in Ruiz soon.

    Hello, Costa Ricans!

I'm from Denmark and support FC Copenhagen. I am very excited about the transfer of Bryan Oviedo - he sounds like an interesting player.
The head scout of FC Copenhagen has said that they will keep on scouting in Costa Rica as they were quite impressed with some of players from the under-20 national team. I do not know Costa Rican football very well, so I have to ask you - who could that be? Who are the most promising Costa Rican footballers at the moment?

    Thanks in advance!
    :)

    - Diego Madrigal (UCR) - Forward/Winger... He will most likely head to Europe this summer or Alajuelense or Saprissa of Costa Rica.

    - David Guzman (Saprissa) - Midfielder... Rumored to join a club in France.

Bryan Ruiz and Luis Suarez favorites to win MVP of the Eredivisie.
    http://encuentrodeportivocr.com/ind...iga-de-holanda&catid=40:bryan-ruiz&Itemid=180

Bryan Ruiz seems to be the fan favorite of Sevilla fans to join Sevilla next season. Ruiz is ahead of players like Cacau of Stuttgart and Hazard of Lille of France in the votes.
    http://www.estadiodeportivo.com/encuestas_sevilla.php?v=1&id=373

If Ruiz stays on fire and can win the Eredivisie with FC Twente i think it will be a done deal that he joins Sevilla...especially since some of their fowards will be leaving and after their loss to Moscow in the Champions they will try to improve the club with important young players.
