I heard 30.000 tickets have already been sold for this game from which only 2.000 are from tico fans. Still, I think CR will get through to meet Brazil or Colombia.

CR vs ES will be at Foxboro. The winner of this match will play Brazil/Col july 24th in Mexico City. Brazil and Colombia play in Miami. All games will be saturday except Mexico vs Jamaica.

The probable semi´s will be Costa Rica vs Brazil and Mexico vs USA.

    Cheers

for USA markets the tv has changed channels:

Univision will busy with the GREAT GOODBYE TO THE BEST CUBA had to offer for all Latinos: celia cruz candle light day will be covered instead of futbol

the games for usa vs CUBA will be in telefutura for NY and Miami areas, the same for COSTA RICA vs. El salvador

Wrong the winner of the Costa Rica vs El Salvador game will meet the winner of the Jamaica vs Mexico game in Mexico City.

The winner of Brazil v Colombia will play the winner of USA v Cuba in Miami.

Very choppy, but it looked like it was 1-1 at 42' and now it's at halftime.

I just got home from this match, and let me tell you, as sloppily played as it was, it was one of the more entertaining matches I've ever witnessed. The first half was pretty evenly played, although I still can't figure out why ES was so deathly afraid of the right side of the field.

Then, in the 60th minute or so the PK was awarded to Costa Rica, one of the worst calls I've ever seen (I will of course reserve my final judgment until after I've seen a replay). The game completely changed at that point and there was no chance of ES coming back, it was all CR from that point on.

And man, after that PK did it get ugly in the stadium. The north end zone looked to be at about 90% capacity, and it was all ES supporters, after the call (which most assumed was in favor of ES until the referee pointed to the spot) bottles rained down on the field from all sides. I'm not talking just a few, I'm talking bottles and bottles and bottles and more bottles.

Then, after the fourth goal, section 107 literally went crazy. The CR supporters toward the back starting jawing to the ES supporters toward the front. Before you knew it more bottles were being thrown, just not on the field, at other fans. A bunch of ES supporters in the club seats above started throwing bombs down on the CR fans. At this point I got the heck out and missed the 5th goal of the match.

It was a situation that got real ugly real fast and marred what had up until then been an utterly fantastic match.

Well it seems we`re playing Mexico, not Brazil as I told before. There was a mistake in my calendar.

No problem! We are ready for AZTECAZO #2!!!

I was also at the game, and yes, it was a good one. El Salvador actually looked the better team for a few minutes after each of their goals and hung around pretty well, at least until that penalty. First time I've ever seen bottles flying out of the crowd like that, even with a couple of the ES players gesturing towards the crowd to cool it. From mid-field, I didn't have a good view of the penalty, and I don't think they showed on the screens, but it didn't look unbelievably bad.......or unbelievably obvious.

In terms of crowd stuff, something also happened in section 107 (about 1/2 way from the mid-field line to the top of the Box) where it seemed to be almost entirely Ticos. Several cops accompanied a bunch of security people down there during the 2nd half.
