Considering the #7 and #8 CONCACAF teams qualify for the final playoffs, they very well better be a threat.

You say as if Panama didn't just tie Peru in Peru...

Qualifying's about survival, but you learn nothing there about how a team will perform when the tournament starts.

Costa Rica joining the mix has me feeling slightly worse. Before the last window it felt like the worst case scenario was 4th. Now there is a realistic path to 5th.

Probably because the US is struggling to break teams down and Costa Rica is very stout defensively. Goals are going to be very difficult to come by.

We've tied the last two times in Azteca but we keep getting whopped in La Sabana.

Luis Fernando Suarez is an experienced coach in CONCACAF having qualified Honduras to Brazil. He's more than capable than beating USA playing counter futbol which they do now. He's really salvaged these qualifiers for CR.

Costa Rica hasn't won or lost by more than 1, and hasn't scored more than 2. USA got 6 points and +6 against Honduras, while Costa Rica got 4 points and +1. That could be what makes Costa Rica finish behind USA.

People had scenarios for USA to qualify during the fourth set of games, which ended with Matchday 11. Not only did USA not qualify then, they did not qualify on Matchday 12 or 13.

On Wednesday, New Zealand vs. Solomon Islands in Qatar is at 1:00 P.M. USA Eastern, so Concacaf teams will know who the playoff is against.

It appears to be streaming for free on elevensports.com. But I’ve never used this site except for briefly streaming some of an Italian women’s match just now to test it.

So, best odds on the internet for betting on a US win vs. Costa Rica here: https://insightprediction.com/markets/199

It's in probability odds (read the cents as %), and you can get close to 3:1. It's my own website, FYI. If anyone has a match they want to see, I'm happy to add. US residents will need to use a vpn.

No big surprise that Costa Rica looks like they're settling for the playoff and avoiding card accumulation suspensions.

That yellow card accumulation rule over 14 games is insane.

This US-Costa Rica game is pretty sleepy.

Glad to see some things never change. San Jose continues to be a fortress.

The massive choke by Panama coincides with the monumental comeback by Costa Rica. Gotta love CONCACAF.

Gotta tip CR to beat The Kiwis. Dunno if Chris Wood can overcome Keylor Navas.

Only potential worry is what happens if they concede early... and that's where having an old hand like Luis Fernando Suárez at the helm is a tremendous help.
