Good game guys, congratulations. Our Selecta could learn from the CR seleccion, you guys don't pass up on goal scoring opportunities. And we do without a doubt. Good job, and good luck. Both teams need some fixing to do.
For everyone of you who want Navas, I think one thing is him playing with Saprissa and another one with CRMNT. He still too young and needs more experience, I've seem Navas eating ugly goals too, but I agree Navas plays better with his feet than Ricardo. The first goal he could've done better, but Cristian Montero was very poor doing his job and also the ball went straight to the angle. You also need to see he saved many goals.
The main point is, that we have 2 good keepers for the Hex. Anyone of them who plays is a good guarantee. I don't like Christian Montero as CB, I'd rather see Victor Cordero, Gabriel Badilla (who Kenton doesn't like at all), Tuma or even Michael Umaña. Freddy Fernandez is ok for me.
After watching the game of CS Herediano vs A.D. San Carlos, I have concluded that after a terrible game from a shaky Ricardo Gonzales, that the main keeper in CRMNT should be Kaylor Navas.
I think Wanchope should start giving Adrian De Lemus minutes. It's a shame De Lemus isn't starting with any club in Costa Rica because he's a solid goalkeeper. The good thing is that Costa Rica is producing some nice young solid keepers like Keylor Navas (Saprissa), Alfonso Quesada (UCR), Diego Sequiera (Brujas), Neighel Drummond (San Ramon), and Patrick Pemberton (Alajuelense).
Luis Daniel Vallejos (Part of WC squad in 2002), Alberto Jiménez, Franklin Chacón y argentino Luciano Rodríguez has been kicked out of Herediano. http://www.nacion.com/ln_ee/2008/diciembre/01/deportes1796748.html Damn, what I would give to see Uruguay de Coronado, Orion, and La Libertad back in the Primera Division...I would like to see one of those three play in an international tournament as they helped grow our football in the old, old days. They, in my opinion, deserve it. So far, it is looking like Santos de Guapiles is coming back to Primera Division. Guanacaste, though, is posing a good challenge in the other group.
The team I would love to see return to la primera is Limonense; they actually won the entire thing in the early eighties, but that started a pillaging of their team that never ended, and nowadays they can never seem to move beyond the mid-table of la segunda. Provided some of the best talent for la sele. $$$ and a poor stadium are also problems.
Hey, i was reading an article on football rivalries and was wondering what your opinions are on your countries current rivalries. What countries would you consider rivals, and for what reason?
To me our main rivalries in Concacaf are with Mexico, Honduras, El Salvador, and Guatemala. Mexico because we have had some intense matches with them in the past, and because they will never for the Aztecaso...Honduras because after us...they are the most successful team in C.A. and we have great matches between the two...El Salvador and Guatemala kind of like Honduras...there's just a lot of history between the big 4 from C.A...I would mention USA just because they cant beat us in Costa Rica and we cant beat them in USA...but there really isn't any tension between the 2.
Does anyone know when Kenton will call up the squad for the UNCAF? Which new players do you guys think he should call up to look at? Kenton has to make a list of 30 players for the tournament...I would take this team to UNCAF... Porteros: Keylor Navas (Saprissa) Alfonso Quesada (La U) Diego Sequiera (Brujas) Defensas: Freddy Fernandez (Perez Zeledon) Edder Munguio (San Carlos) Luis Pena (San Carlos) Alexander Robinson (Saprissa) Juan Gabriel Guzman (Perez Zeledon) Michael Umana (Liberia) Roy Miller (Rosenborg, Norway) Leo Gonzalez (Herediano) Medios: Ariel Rodriguez (Alajuelense) Mauricio Montero (Cartago) Jorge Davis (San Ramon) Kurt Morsink (Kansas City Wizards, MLS) Randall Azofeifa (KAA Gent, Belgium) Carlos Hernandez (Melbourne Victory, Australia) Armando Alonso (Saprissa) Pablo Herrera (Alajuelense) Cristian Bolanos (Start, Norway) Marvin Angulo (Herediano) Alvaro Sanchez (San Carlos) Oscar Rojas (Jaguares, Mexico) Delanteros: Argenis Fernandez (Alajuelense) Randall Brenes (Kongsvinger, Norway) Victor Nunez (Liberia) Alejandro Alpizar (Saprissa) William Sunsing (Liberia) Rolando Fonseca (Communicaciones, Guatemala) Jeancarlo Solorzano (Alajuelense) Then for the qualifier match against Honduras we can add Gilberto Martinez, Bryan Ruiz, Celso Borges, Froylan Ledezma, Walter Centeno, Junior Diaz, Puppy Lopez, Roy Myrie, Alvaro Saboro, and Gonzalo Segares.
Yeah do that so Belize and Nicaragua can pull off an upset. Jk i'm pretty sure you guys can still qualify with a c team. Heck we might even beat you with that. So by all means bring a c team. lol i kid guys! Looking for the rematch. 3 time might be the charm.
You were right...Kenton called up a B-C team for the tournament...here is the list... Porteros Keylor Navas (Saprissa) Excellent, should finally prove to be the starter Ricardo Gonzalez (Herediano) prefer Alfonso Quesada from UCR as backup Patrick Pemberton (Alajuelense) Other goalies deserved a call-up Defensas Leonardo González (Herediano) Good Roberto Segura (Perez Zeledon) We'll see Harold Wallace (Liberia) besides Myrie we have no good RB Pablo Brenes (Brujas F.C.) Good Michael Umaña (Liberia) Good Freddy Fernández (Perez Zeledon) Good Gonzalo Segares (Chicago Fire, MLS) Excellent Luis Peña (San Carlos) could be the right backup to Myrie as RB, we'll see Volantes Michael Barrantes (SAprissa) good if he can stay consistent Pablo Herrera (Alajuelense) Excellent Dave Myrie (Alajuelense) Hope he is as good as his brother Cristian Oviedo (Alajuelense) Deserves a look after a solid season Álvaro Sánchez (San Carlos) good chance to prove himself Esteban Granados (Cartagines) good tough DM Leonardo Madrigal (Cartagines) we'll see Paolo Jiménez (Brujas F.C.) too inconsistent but he's got talent Jorge Davis (San Ramon) Good strong young player...we'll see Delanteros Alejandro Alpízar (Saprissa) good Jean Carlo Solórzano (Alajuelense) good Argenis Fernández (Alajuelense) excellent Steven Calderón (UCR) shown moments of talent when giving the chance Víctor Núñez (Liberia) good It's too bad not to see players like Edder Munguio (San Carlos), Alfonso Quesada (UCR), Diego Sequiera (Brujas), Juan Gabriel Guzman (Perez Zeledon), Marvin Angulo (Herediano), and some others that deserved a chance. Let's hope we can find at least 5 good players in the UNCAF to add to the NT.
the players in bold, do not deserve to be in the NT, they were not consistent, some good games, several bad games
no fonseca???? he is the best scorer of the UNCAF tourny, and no alex robinson? no dexter? no arrieta? lol, no
yea i would've left out some players to give others a chance like... Ricardo Gonzalez < Alfonso Quesada Patrick Pemberton < Diego Sequiera Roberto Segura < Alexander Robinson Freddy Fernandez < Edder Munguio Dave Myrie < Ariel Rodriguez Paolo Jimenez < Marvin Angulo Steven Calderon < Rolando Fonseca
