Cosmos executive director Joe Fraga confirmed on Tuesday that there would be a buyout of one group. The Cosmos board of directors will meet this week.

So the changes are now becoming public and they are speaking about them - interesting - but again - where does this leave it all.

Its not dead, but is it better off for it?

YEs, PK being out sounds like its better because Garber probably didnt want to do business with him and it sounds like operations will continue as planned - just some new ownership.

Going to be a lot of news this month i think

That has to be interpreted as good news if Paul Kemsley is out. Hopefully you guys will get some more info on this Saudi group is soon and what their intentions are. Good to see the Cosmos being more public about this.

about fekin time - they had to - the local writers were starting to talk about it in the open.

So it seems that perhaps financing was not the issue, just some high school lunch table shit between the owners that they needed to sort out. Are these changes enough to win back Garber?

We know that Kemsely is out, there might be some information about Rick Parry and the new saudi group on another thread. I'll let nick elaborate, if he cares to.

PS, It's interesting the statement came from Fraga.

This if anything can only mean good news. Truth is Kemsley was too much of a risk for any venture considering the size of this investment. His past track record didn't reassure either the MLS or this saudi group.

Pk was smart in positioning himself for a buyout. Relaunching the brand, proving that there is still huge demand and setting up a friendly against MAN UTD before they were even a real club = $$$$$$ The Cosmos brand and name are what at the end of the day hold true value. It is what the investors and MLS need in order to ensure growth and more world wide recognition as soon as they are up and running.

Lets wait and see what news arrises after this week. I hope PK walks away clean with his cash and doesnt play hard ball. We need this to get resolved now

    I tried using paragraphs !!!

Rick Parry has been known to work with this group in some capacity - he was on a taskforce or something.

I dont know if they would be involved

    *****WARNING*****

Through Twitter, an individual (who wants to remain unanimous) has informed me that the investors who Garber was sitting with at the game were actually the Saudis who are expected to buy the COSMOS. Can anyone here confirm this info please.

This means that the COSMOS are still alive, and that Paul Kemsley has been out of the picture since September. This whole story is now being shredded with secrecy. This what bugs me about this saga.

Please Nick, don't tell me that this fat ugly bastard is now spearheading the resurrection of the COSMOS. Is this guy related to Ron Jeremy? Unless, Clive Toye is behind the scene as well. Toye, former COSMOS creator and now sits the board of governors at CONCACAF.

Good point about Clive Toye ! But if there is a challenge by other investors 2 the Cosmos group and they get the bid, then they have no choice but to buy the name.

Our petrodollars being recycled...I hope there is a consortium of local investors somewhere in this picture...modern international soccer...

At least there is something new to discuss before we get another "announcement in 60-90 days" line.

Garber said they weren't associated with the Cosmos group at all. The Saudis have already invested in the Cosmos group. Ipso facto, it's not the same people.

Just need to see who else is out at the Cosmos group - PK is out - thats been confirmed by the COsmos now

The fate of some other guys - the two in particular Terry Byrne and Joe Fraga.

Terry has been like the focal point, always doing the talking and at the soccer based events and honestly - Joe has done a LOT of work behind the scenes with the city and getting the stadium done.

Curious to see their fates -

The one thing I am uncertain on is who are PKs guys and who were not. Terry might have been one of PKs guys - im sure more will happen soon.

Well.. If I'm the Saudi investors, I'm not sure I'd retain anyone. It sounds like it was a Keystone Cops situation over there.

I can confirm today from my lead that the Saudi investor group is about to close a deal that will bring them to 100% ownership, and then they are going to consider their options.

It turns out from other posters and the Borough Boys, the F6 group led by Prince Faisal is NOT involved with the Cosmos. I will do some more digging to see the source of these Saudi funds.

P.S. - Kemsley and Carl Johnson's photos are off from NYCosmos.com.

Does this group have serious money? Im skeptical.

Also - if the Cosmos are this much of a dysfunctional family right now then NYC might be a bit farther off than planned - i just dont know about that stadium. Despite what you want to believe, I have heard from sources NOT IN THE COSMOS, but good sources that the Cosmos had one person on that staff that has done more to get a stadium in NYC than anyone else.

Feck me - now that the story is clear - it feels like we took steps back.

Well see whats next - because something will be next.

Source? There hasn't been any official announcements at all from them and there arent any rumors linking them with the Cosmos.
