As far as wars go this one is just getting started... February was a productive month.

    NYCSoccerWarz: The February Campaign

by DAN DICKINSON and DAVE MARTINEZ

The season may have started in March, but the #NYCSoccerWarz burned steadily through February.

The Jersey Reds suffered the loss of a general last month, but got through their preseason without much more bleeding. The Bronx Blues may have seen mixed results in Manchester, but kept pressure on the ticket battle. The Long Island Greens took their fight internationally as their pre-season started in advance of the NASL spring campaign.

LOL sorry and no disrespect taken at all - can't please everyone all the time. But I think its interesting to hear what the sporting director of our club has to say about the matter. Surely there is nothing that he can do personally to change the soccer landscape in the US. The only thing he can control is when his NASL team plays an MLS team. Its statement time when that happens! Cheers!

Dave Martinez discusses the the Cosmos' branding strategy since Raul's arrival. They still need to fill Shuart before it really means anything domestically....

From Cuba to Hong Kong, Cosmos’ ‘Global Strategy’ comes to life

Club COO Erik Stover and Chairman Seamus O’Brien have spoken highly about their ubiquitous idea of exploiting the Cosmos’ international reputation to markup gains on the domestic front.

What does that even mean? How does that even happen?

Well, this offseason has served as an educational exercise on the topic.

As soccer focuses on New York, the Cosmos aim global

While a pair of Major League Soccer teams do battle for supremacy in New York, with the M.L.S. season already underway, the New York Cosmos conducted their own media day in the center of Manhattan on Tuesday afternoon, ahead of the team's season opener April 11, and home opener April 18.

I found this article in a Bolivian newspaper. It seems the Cosmos players where not the only ones getting atention during their visit to El Salvador. One of the trainers, a good looking girl was getting plenty of looks from the fans. Just a side not I found. In the article they also state that the Cosmos play in the MLS, go figure.
I have seen her run on to the pitch when players get hut at home, never noticed how pretty she's up close.

New York Cosmos billboard near Red Bull Arena kicks off Big Apple turf war

On Twitter, there's already a hashtag for it: #NYCSoccerWarz.

It's largely meant to be tongue-in-cheek, as evidenced by the Z – because nothing makes a statement ironic like adding a Z – but the New York Cosmos upped the competition for the hearts and minds of New York's consumers of soccer on Wednesday by putting up a billboard right off the interstate by Red Bull Arena.

Thanks for that, I'm going to try and stop by and get a photo with Danny.

Can global recognition translate into increased popularity in NYC for the Cosmos?

Raul ready to help New York Cosmos recapture former glories

The revived NASL franchise remain global icons and are now plotting to overthrow New York City FC and New York Red Bulls as the kings of New York

Yet despite the fame of the Cosmos brand, they currently are making far more of an impact outside the United States than in it.

There has been a lot of negative press regarding Raul's 53 minute performance last weekend. Saverese discusses that and more in his weekly conference call with reporters.

Cosmos Notes: Raul expected to travel after injury scare; Savarese praises team character; and more

“He came out of the game because he felt a little pinch,” Savarese said on a conference call. “He did an MRI this morning and it came out as something very slight and something very minimum. He’s already available to train tomorrow, so we expect him to do full training tomorrow. He’s fine.”
While there may be some temptation to rest Raul against Indy Eleven ahead of the Cosmos’ home opener next week, Savarese – who also revealed that left back Ayoze is expected to be fit as well – insists that he remains focused on the game at hand.
“First of all, I have to say that we always take it game by game,” Savarese said. “The home opener is next week, but our main focus remains on this game in front of us, which is Indy Eleven. We are all preparing very well and Raul is going to be able to train tomorrow for the match this weekend, which is a very important match against a good team that has grown a lot from last year and we expect another battle.”
