Elmont is Nassau County...right on the Queens border but still on Long Island as for Quebec City: http://www.thehockeynews.com/news/a...s-quebec-city-doesn-t-mind-being-nhl-s-plan-b
I mean more Nassau Coliseum. My understanding was they're taking a hard look at possibly moving back in with the folks now that they remodeled the house. It won't be any downgrade from their off kilter mess of an arena in Brooklyn.
long term...not enough seats...max for hockey is now only 13,900: http://nypost.com/2017/06/15/islanders-will-get-one-game-at-nassau-coliseum/
http://www.frontrowsoccer.com/2017/12/03/nothing-islanders-hockey-arean-bid-belmont-park-report/ It’s all or nothing for the New York Islanders at Belmont Park. The National Hockey League team’s co-owner, Jon Ledecky, told Newsday Sunday that he and his partners are “ready to go and all in” on making the racetrack in Elmont, N.Y. its permanent home. “We have no Plan B and we haven’t even thought about one,” Ledecky was quoted by the Long Island newspaper.

Good for the Islanders. Gets them closer to their fans, and out of that piss poor set up in Brooklyn. Sucks for Quebec City of course, but they’re used to being hosed by the NHL by now.
my guess Calgary is going to Houston and Phoenix is going to Quebec City...clearly an even trade...lol

The Coney Island site is not on the beach but it is close, just a few blocks away, it's the same subway station you're just walking away from the beach. Would that matter? Without a major marketing campaign with a full 'all-in' for Brooklyn happening I would think the Cosmos would average the same 3k to 5k which is probably fine to compete in NISA. My gut tells me Rocco wants more than that and looking at his investment in Fiorentina going small with Cosmos is not what he wants to do. So, act on either of these sites? The second site is the orphaned stadium built and used by the now defunct Staten Island Yankees. Hmmm.... I will guess that if the Cosmos go for either it would be only temporary. I really think the big picture goal is a stadium in the City that's at least 15k; neither of these sites will get you there. The problem is the same problem that NYCfc is having, in that delaying to build a stadium is delaying growth. So, do nothing or build a temporary stadium, neither grows the club and you are still trying to build a larger stadium. Tough call.
I think you could add a few thousand seats to the Staten Island ballpark. It's surrounded by carparks.
