Honestly, Philly is not in a much better position in terms of silverware If you asked several members of the Borough Boys, they would have told you it was a sure thing.
I find it funny that Philthy fans are trying to use the empty trophy case excuse when your side doesn't have anything either. Oh wait, you think it's a rivalry. Untill Philthy tries to win a playoff game or not get eliminated early in the US Open Cup. Please STFU (_|_) holes.
Umm that would be three NFL Championships that they won before the NFL changed the name of their championship to the "Super Bowl" and acted like anything won before that didn't exist.
Thanks for holding such a strong orthodoxy on articles and there placements. One would hope a moderator, such as yourself, would be able to use a bit of judgement on threads that are N&A and ones that are not. This thread seems to have more than run its course and would probably be best placed elsewhere. I think you need to reread my comments. This is not a complaint but a suggestion as to where the thread should be. If there were much closer to getting a stadium, team, etc. then I would agree that it should be here but not now.
At the moment they're still the only expansion candidate that's anywhere close to relevent. We know that MLS itself is committing resources towards the stadium search. We know that Sela Sports is one of the only existing expansion bids in the city where MLS has committed their focus. So as far as near-term expansion goes, they're the story until the point where MLS officially decides that they're abandoning efforts for NY2 and are open to other bids from around the country (they're currently discouraging prospective efforts in other cities). Still, as I said before, moving it wouldn't be something that I would be opposed to. But just understand that it doesn't mean that another Cosmos article won't appear here in a month or so for the same reasons listed above. That, to me, may be a reason for keeping it here until the entire expansion scenario runs it's course. It's not there yet.
As a user, the best way to deal with a thread that you feel has run its course is to A) Unsubscribe from the thread. B) Stop commenting in the thread. There is an entire forum to discuss the NY2 expansion and it is predominately populated by Cosmos supporters who have already discussed this topic quite a bit. Moving this thread to the NY2 expansion forum wouldn't serve a purpose and would only serve to confuse people who have responded to this thread on N&A as the tone outside the N&A forum is much different than within. If you feel this thread should be closed, PM the moderators for this forum and ask them to close it.
Guess this means he quit his NY Cosmos role? Eric Cantona 'targets French presidential race Ex-Manchester United football star and film actor Eric Cantona now appears to have turned his hand to politics. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-16483027
Paul Scholes has come out of retirement. Can another epic testimonial game be on the horizon? http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/soccer/united-knock-city-out-of-cup/story-e6frfg8x-1226239512254
And yet a great F.cosmos irony is that if you believe press reports Kemsley/Johnson's soccer/lifestyle marketing vision both caused his "partners" to force him and his team out as lunatics while at the same time intrigued Don Garber and the league. Weird...Cantona/Times Square billboards/stickers/Umbro/hipsterism/blackout looting/traveling all-stars, the same stuff apparently produced both reactions?!?!?
Anyone have any updates on the BWG $200000+ payment which is now over due?? Was it paid or is there any plans for it to be paid I am hearing that Development Academy Training sessions have already been cancelled this week, which may suggest a lack of payment to BWG and the coaches? Just wondering what the update is on this as it has again gone quiet on this issue or are we heading to litigation again
Quick update I am hearing on the Academy players Looks like the U18 squad are heading to a tournament in Germany around the April break time From what I am being told, some sort of tournament involving a number of other European Academy teams – some annual event I think So looks like Cosmos are still trying to continue and develop the Academy set up Only issue I am being told is that each player needs to pay $800 - $900 to go to this tournament Not quite sure how that works – I thought an Academy set up was fully funded?...................least I know RBA is fully funded for tirps like this So that may create an issue for any players who cannot afford to pay that amount? Still not heard anything about the U23’s as yet And still not heard if BWG have been paid as yet or not
Surprise! He was only doing it for the attention and was never serious. Ditto with his presidential bid.
