OUR HEROES FALTERED BEFORE OUR VERY EYES. DESPITE NUMERICAL SUPERIORITY, WHAT WAS AT ONE POINT A CLEAR ADVANTAGE TURNED INTO A STALEMATE. WHAT ONCE WAS UNBRIDLED OPTIMISM TURNED TO A GREAT DISAPPOINTMENT. DESPITE THE HEROIC EFFORTS OF LUCAS, NO GLORY WAS HELD. AND NOW, NEXT FOR OUR HEROES CLAD IN YELLOW, IS THE CORPORATE BRANDED RIVAL, ENCOURAGED BY THE OFFICE OF E.V.I.L. THE TRAIN, WHICH LOOKED LIKE IT WAS GOING TO POWER ITS WAY TO GLORY, HAS BEEN STALLED. WILL OUR CREW OVERCOME THE VILLAINY OF GREED E.V.I.L.?
Faltered? FALTERED?????? They folded like a cheap card table. They went down like a bus station whore whose rent is a week late. They laid down like a small town prom date. Collapsed like a wet. ardboard box. It was a disgraceful display of ineptitude, cowardice and perfidy. One of the darkest days in Crew history, a black stain on the soul of every fan that cannot be erased. They'd better come out pissed off and looking for blood. I want to see some legs broken, teeth on the ground and the stretcher squad calling for backup. None of this posession crapola. Show that they have hangy-down man things or change the name to.the Crew-ettes.
Mid 50s on Friday. Mid 30s on Saturday. Apparently, there could even be some snow for the tailgate. Because why the hell not, Ohio?
Because it's March, Peter. I've seen snow in mid-May here. March is still winter for three weeks. March tends to be volatile. It always has. This is not new.
I've been going to Opening Day in Cincy for over 30 years (though I've missed the last couple due to COVID). That's always right around March 31 =/- a couple of days. And we've seen everything from 85 and sunny to high 20s and a snow delay (plus an ump dying on the field). That's Ohio. And the year the season opened in early May due to a strike, I remember it being below freezing--to the point where at the end of the game the pitches Curt Schilling threw were all strikes, as the umps didn't want to be out in it either.... Then there was the April blizzard that put over a foot of snow in eastern Ohio after it had been in the 70's the weekend before (and hit the 70s the weekend after). Had friends get stuck out at Salt Fork SP.
https://www.dispatch.com/story/news...begin-tailgates-grandview-heights/6802580001/ Not sure what that means for March 12, but there won't be a Megatailgate. FWIW, the initial announcements about this new tailgate set-up failed to mention the schedule, which I thought was kinda dumb. I assume a lot of fans assume there will be one on 3/12.
We will be flirting with significant (4-7 inches) snow Friday night into Saturday morning. Weather models this far out will change, but it will be cold.
Well, when you put it that way...... I also forgot to mention the nefarious interference by the arbiter, who clearly was a minion of E.V.I.L. I suck. part of the shows "charm". In advertising, the voice over person brings a little more energy than you usually see. I am not worthy of such praise.
Grandview only suspended the open-container laws that allow the MegaTailgate to function for certain dates and times.
Even if we had somehow gotten lucky and had a 70 degree day like last Saturday...it's winter....you planned Family Day with the Crew during winter. Nothing screams funnel cake fries and cotton candy like being outdoors in early March with the family.
I want to mention that we have an extremely experienced team and us giving up 2 late goals to a 10 man side is inexcusable. You might see that happen with a super young and inexperience side but one of the "benefits" of an older team is that stuff shouldn't happen. They better lock it down this weekend.
They used to have a dribble/pass/score setup, an inflatable obstacle course and a thing to essentially do "target practice" on a goal. It all disappeared about 2013 or so. But you're absolutely right. Part of the reason for the playground at HCS was because kids were running up and down the aisles. The mini-field also served a double-purpose. Too bad they couldn't have figured out a way to move some of that stuff.
