"Free bonanza" for everbody. Where do resourcers come from? Well, it seems Bernie and his friends have invented replicators. Nothing extreme about that.

Well, here we can agree. :D

Albeit there is lots of misconceptions in terms of Europe. Such as people actually perceiving Nordic countries as socialist simply because Bernie is spewing non-sense.

The biggest misconception is that health care is "free". Its not. It's being pulled out of our wages every month. Basically, half of my wages go to tax and healthcare before i get to them. Every time i get prescribed meds i have to pay 5 Euro per order. If they are non prescription drugs (pain killers for example), we pay them in full.

It's not the horror stories you hear of people with little no insurance in the US, but nothing is free around here.

The people i despise the most are the people that say sh*t like "i got a sugery, and i paid NOTHING". Well yes, but you pay for insurance, and you pay a daily fee for the hospital, which surely is a joke compared to covering for it with no insurance, but again=you already paid for it by paying for insurance for years without needing it.

If you tell people int he US that fee healthcare costs a monthly chunk of their wages, they'll think differently about it.

Well the thing is at least you pay and you know you are good to go

Here i pay nearly 60k in taxes a year and i have to pay about 10k for health insurance and i still have to pay copays and other medical fees

I pay taxes and i still have to pay fot everything out of pocket

Id rather pay 50% on taxes knowing that the basic necessities for my family will be provided than 35% and know that if something happens to me, my wife and kids are screwed cuz everything is out of pocket

Literally anybody. He’s bungled the whole situation because he is a incompetent narcissist.

No person would have found a cure but literally anyone with basic competency and intellect and regular amounts of human empathy would have done a much better job. He is a cancer to our country.

My sister is an Irish citizen and so is my best friend and his wife. When they moved to Ireland the country was barely coming out of the recession. Tax rate was 54%. Only recently it has gone down to 48%. It’s a lot. Especially when people in the US hear about it. I have a perspective from both sides. It sounds crazy to me if someone said hey we are taking more than half of your paycheck. But...... my sister got sick and has hardly ever had to pay for anything for the last 2 years regrading her treatment. You have no idea how much of a blessing that is. If she was here in the US her illness might have crushed us financially.

Minimum wage worker in Slovenia - gross / gross sum being 1100 eur ( meaning employer needs to pay aditional "fees" to the government" on top of gross sum ), receives 655 eur on his bank account - assuming he is eligible for deduction. Without deduction you are getting 607 eur. Meaning 55% of your paycheck.

In terms of health insurance. Minimum wage worker pays nearly 130 euros per month. For that he gets basic insurance - provided by Government, which is worth shit. Meaning you break your bone and go to the hospital, well you fcked. Which is why you have optional private insurance - heavily regulated by Government. It costs aditional 35 euros. It helps drastically, but still you are not fully covered. Instead you for "above-standard" treatment you need to pay extra - cash. And of course "above-standard" is not exactly "above standard" per-se.

Then what happens is, cost of insurance is getting inflated every few years. Specifically cost of private insurance has risen from 28 euro to 35, in a matter of years. Public also. At the same time, there are constant changes in terms of what falls under the "basic or above" standard. And changes usually ain`t positive for the people.

This is before mentioning what happens when you get to the hospital, and specifically what kind of quality do you get when you finally manage to go through the waiting line, which can be long as months. You want to get there sooner? Fork that dollars baby.

Now, if you are earning much more than minimum wage. Well then you fcked completely, due to progressive nature of the system. And considering how moronic tax brackets in SLovenia are, my father who was sitting on 1,4k euro nett, was completely ********ed. Double+ the price for the same service. Then he gets hit by a stroke, and he gets sent home for a week in public hospital. After which he gets another stroke. Nobody cares. Gracias.

Eh, who argued against reform? I didn't.

What Bernie has proposed is an exterme and it would hurt this country economically. We aren't a European country; in size, culture, etc.

Is this something I disagreed with or is this one of the points I brought up?

Seriously, some of you are tripping.

Bernie has become some keyword for social justice when the reality is he is just an antagonist who has always wanted everything to conform to him.

We (the USA, most who seem against this don't even live here or have a stake here) don't need to make back breaking taxes for everyone to have legitmate systems for health, education, etc.

    That would kill small business.

That would make corporations hire less and move more jobs to Asia.

That would crush the foundation of this country.

What we need it an uptick of taxation for those wealthier, with better management of the huge amounts we generate. Our military spending is too damn high. Our government allows the medical industry to be "profit only".

There are ways to curb this and that doesn't mean nuking the country.

For me Bernie is the same just the polar opposite. The narcissistic tendencies of him being the only solution and his way being the only way.... hus followers take on the mold of their leader.

Again, these "leaders" are populist types and push extermes.

    No ********ing thanks. No mas.

Everybody here understands taxes goes up with "free" healthcare. But that's not the only reason why who don't like it are against it . They also "fear" having to wait months for an operation and also Government bureaucracy.

I think there's good and bad in everything. I think with more flexibility comes greater competition but on the other hand it's important to keep the quality of health care provided at a high level. We're seeing the differences right now as we speak in the continent.

I don't mind high taxation as long as everything is fair. We're being blasted in terms of rent prices here and nobody moves a finger about it.

    Exactly.

Also what they think is that I'm going to get taxed half while they will skate with what they've been getting.

What they don't understand is they will carry that tax burden as well, so they won't be able to afford their current home and lifestyle.

Our government spending is improper.... I'm not talking the amount; I'm speaking of the focus of where investment is made.

Adding more money doesn't fix this; all that does is reduce the amount of disposable income for families which would end up shrinking our economy..... and all so the government can have more to mismange while the medical industry continues to benefit and double dip inflating prices of medical equipment, procedures and medicine.

To be fair, if you make 100k and are paying 7k in premiums, that's already a "7% tax" alone. That's for an individual with no kids. Plus you add co-pay and deductible and that cost is higher. So that 32% tax rate is already around 40% at least. If your employer provides health insurance he is taking that out of your salary. So depending on tax increase, it can become close to a wash for the middle class. Now for the wealthy that's becomes smaller % of their income because insurance costs the same (except that they get the nicer plans) .. so they'd be hit harder with a 10-15% increase in a public system.

Considering how often certain groups of people speak about "free this", "free that", it seems they don`t understand it. Or, they have zero issue with it considering they perceive themselves as proletariat who is inherently opressed, hence they are or should be entitled to being subsidized.

Same here, I would much rather it be taken out of my paycheck as taxes and know I’m covered. It’s infuriating to pay 600 a month regardless of going to the doctor or not that month and when I need to go I can expect a 100-300 bill since only 20% is covered until deductible of 4K is met but even then it’s not 100% covered it’s 80% covered. Such a joke.

Surgeries can damn near bankrupt, when I had my ACL surgery it cost about 5k out of pocket. Like wtf.
