Yea I can imagine the same. Some are already pushing the narrative on how clubs should appreciate the fans more. Making them feel replaceable will piss them off.
The clubs still need the money they spend on gear and tickets and food. They won’t be replaced. If they just think logically about it and control their emotions it isn’t that bad. But they are usually pretty extreme that’s asking a lot.
exactly, nothing will replace the sheer amount of money that each person entering the stadium brings it's just a stopgap to make it a more compelling product for the time being
We ultras would like to place a formal complaint against the use of fake fan noise. The fake sounds fail to represent our passion appropiately as they do not contain enough racist and homophobic chants and insults. Please correct at once.
They shouldn't be worried at all. Fake noises can't replace millions in cash ticket buying fans bring in so they are never replaceable.
That's a great message to send. "You're only any good for making more money off of." The fans will want a better message than that....
The fans don’t need a message. We are in the middle of a goddamn pandemic. It’s pretty obvious why there are no fans in the stadium. They are just trying to make the TV experience for the remainder of the season to be less sh*tty. Who has the time to be this sensitive!? Lol
People get sensitive about everything. Especially those that call other sensitive and snowflakes are the most sensitive of all. So yeah..i am sure someone out there is upset about this, especially if they are of the group that thinks Covid is a made up thing and are mad that they can't go to the games
There is no doubt about that. Just can’t constantly pander to them. It’s usually the smallest portion of the population making 90% of the noise...

Certain clubs in Germany have been caught placing speakers right under/next to the away fans to noise them out of games. It became a huge issue in fan culture. Considering the fact that the main discussion point in Germany was fans and their freedom to be vocal in their displeasure vs being merely trained seals that clap, now putting a fake audience track on there will make sure the protests get a second wind.
Clubs rely on ticket sales and those hardcore fans are the first ones to storm the stadiums as soon as they are open while the laughing track supporters will stay at home in front of TV. I find the fake noise kind of weird. Might as well just simulate the entire thing on fifa.
The Champions League fixture between Liverpool and Atlético Madrid in March has been linked to 41 COVID-19 deaths, according to a study carried out by Edge Health.https://t.co/Ra8Whuv0hZ— Get Spanish Football News (@GSpanishFN) May 24, 2020
TV money is worth 2.1 billion per season to La Liga clubs. So those watching on TV are important and will help sustain the clubs when all other revenue sources are pretty much dead for next few months.
So if a team is fined and has to play without fans do we turn on the fake fan noise for those watching at home? Do we put on a fake noise track for smaller/youth tier tournaments to make it more appealing? I find this whole thing the beginning of something very different. Broadcasters will still with blending extra crowd noise in even past the virus to "make things more exciting". There is apparently a company working on virtual fan projection right now. It will be hilarious if those would just glitch and freeze. My worry is that the broadcast authenticity will forever be changed based on what choices we make now. Do we want authenticity or do we want something that mimics something else?
Broadcasters were already doing it apparently. I heard one channel removed Barca and Bilbao fans booing national anthem at CDR final.
Euroleague Basketball officials suggest to cancel the season. Kind of bummed but its impossible to play if a majority of the players refuse to travel back to their city and play.
