yeah he messed up his ACL, he needs to sit out and start again next year. Its sad news and I hope he recovers fast and completely but we only had him a few games so I think we can still make this season work out.

Cant we waive him and sign someone else? We could always resign him next year

You don't need to do that, you can usually sign someone else if somebody is out for the year.

Is there some rule about petitioning the league for "roster relief"? And, in this case, I wonder if LAG qualify, becuase they have flat out cut a bunch of players so the reason the roster is bare is only partly due to injury - mostly due to not signing anyone.

And, if you know, does roster relief come with any salary cap elasticity?

For that matter, can we get relief for Martino who is out for the year? Or maybe we can just fill the spots that we have open right now.

So no salary relief. But we're pretty close to the "Extreme Hardship" clause. :) :(

And the reason for that is that LAG has cut a bunch of deadwood from the roster (Memo, etc.) without replacing players. To me, that is not so much "hardship" as it is a management decision. Whether there is a plan behind that decision remains to be seen. But, if I were on the league board voting on this, I would not give roster relief on a "hardship" basis.

This is not a game of Scrabble where you can just turn in your tiles and draw a whole new hand.

And since most were deadwood and not really servicable players anyway, I don't think it's such a bad thing they're gone. Though the roster is small, I'd almost rather play with 10 men than put someone out there that's atrocious. That way you can just count on yourself to get the job done, rather than trust that deadwood to get it done - in which case you end up covering for them anyway.
