Fortunately, we DirecTV subscribers recently got BBC America's HD feed.

Not particularly, I watched the promo on the series and it didn't grab me.

I watched it last night and enjoyed it. I'll definitely tune into the rest of the series.

    I enjoyed it too. :)

The series looks like something AMC would also air. As a matter of fact, word has it that the idea for the series was initially pitched to AMC (i.e. another time-period piece set in New York City, but this time set in the 1860's ;)), but was then taken by BBC America.

Interestingly, between the two channels, there are now two series' that take place in roughly the same time period (Copper just shortly before the end of the Civil War and AMC's Hell on Wheels just shortly after the end of the Civil War), even if in vastly different parts of the country.
