I was going to have the cl final taped but when I heard real madrid lost i said forget it. Look for this years Champions league final to be the most boring (italian teams) with the worst atmopshere (old trafford) in a long time

but while in copa libertadores this week I saw 2 quarterfinal games that had better atmosphere than the upcoming cl final and probably any cl game this year.

the boca juniors vs paysandu atmosphere was out of this world. The singing seemed echoed through the whole stadium in what seemed like most people in the stands were singing instead of just the support group of a euro team. They all had little flags waving them, and of course the emotions in every play.

It was so great that one day I plan to go watch a game between an argentinian vs brazilian. This stadium had 70k, imagine if it had been played in Maracana with 100k.

so to all the yanks out there that get fox sports in spanish, if you want real soccer atmosphere watch copa libertadores.

SA people have a bit more temperament than here. So it's not weird that instead of one group you get half the stadium singing.

On the other hand, watching Birmingham - Villa... my speakers almost got blown out. There are still European matches that have incredible atmosphere.

Besides that, a lot of the clubs in CL have a lot of bandwagon fans and generally boring fans who aren't really fans but just like to be a part of something they think is 'cool'... something thye can brag about.

Yor right lond2345, Boca fans are part of the most rabid groups, La 12 (as in the "12th" player) is as famous as their club, unfortunately there are always rotten apples everywhere and the violence might be an issue to deal with while attending games in which they're involved.

Most big european teams have all seater stadiums..
It takes away alot of the atmposhere if fans are seated..
Clubs also get fined if fans light fireworks and flares during the game....

The thing I like about the south america games is the crowd surges after a goal is scored...
The ball goes in the back of the net and all the crowd behind the goal just surges forward..
I feel sorry for the people right at the front but its entertaining to watch..
However I've been watcing afew south american games this year and I thought that the atmosphere was poor in alot of the games.

Reminds me of my only time on the (Liverpool) Kop.
Best wet Wednesday night I've spent I think. Watching QPR get beaten wasn't great, but was expected - however when Liverpool scored (after missing 2 penalties I might add) the surge was chuffin' brilliant. Almost fell and got trampled underfoot, but great.
I can understand the benefits of our system of all seaters here - it's just I miss the terraces so damn much. A lot of the atmosphere has been lost.
I don't know about anyone else but I'd rather spend £8 to stand on the terraces at Deepdale with my bovril and my pie, than spend £15+ to sit down.
Still, most of the prawn sandwich brigade are happy, and that's what counts - right?

I thought surging forward happened on all terraces.

We had some of it in the (all seater) Arena for a while, but it didn't really work.

In de Meer it was half the fun :D I've seen quite a few people go down very, very hard...

I'm a Yank who gets Fox Sports World En Espanol and I love it.
The atmosphere is a big part of what makes it great.
The hour long pre-game before the weekly match in Argentina is especially nice as they follow the build up of atmosphere live for an hour before the match as it builds and reaches a fever pitch (no pun intended) and culminates in the post match violence and tear gas (sometimes).
They show lots of great looking women too!

The show is called "Minuto Cero" and it's on again this next Sunday at 11:00 AM PDT for 1 hour before the Equipos por Anunciar.. Argentina!
I think the USA feed is slightly different.
Do you get the MLS matches on yours? They show one game a week on the USA feed. That would answer the question as to if it is different.
We do get La Ultima Palabra (the last word).

Never known it not to happen.

Big surge forward also when away support got mouthy.

Course if Bates had his way in the early 80's it would have been an "electrifying" expierence for many.

Dude so u want to watch a Brazil vs Argentina (in my opinion the best NTs game, full of rivality, full of skill and sometimes full of hard fouls) in the world's biggest stadium(Maracana). for sure u gonna have some fun! and you will see how to support a team. Jumping, singing, swearing, waving.... And like always brazilian you will have to curse Argentina!!!!

about maracana when brazil had a WC in 1950, we got in the finals against Uruguay and everybody says that this day maracana had 200.000 people... not bad huh... unfortunally we lost...

Like I said before, it's mostly cultural.

OTOH I don't believe I've been silent for more than 10 seconds in a row at Ajax' CL (away)matches this season. Good atmosphere and lots of emotion. All depends on the importance of the match I guess.
Ajax is known for being pretty silent at times, but we got many compliments for our travelling support in European newspapers and at least one honourable mention for the atmosphere prior to the Ajax - Arsenal match. We were even compared to galatasaray. Although the tension made the stadium a lot more silent during the match. Still not bad :D

It were some great trips... sigh... Fantastic return to the European top-level. Fantastic season...

But in general SA fans are louder I guess. Although I've seen plenty SA matches that weren't exactly a party either.

Dancing in the stands is for ************s though. It may happen... but only once every few years and with a very good reason :D

Not quite sure what you mean... Haarlem - Top Oss was a joke. And I already said I believe SA atmosphere is better.
