The Cali-O'Higgins was a very good game. Fast movement, using the full width of the field. Fair result.

Argentina clubs woke up from their stupor today. Solid results by Velez and Arsenal.

I don't see why San Lorenzo losing in the group stage would reflect badly on argentina's league when the Velez, Newell's, and even Arsenal are looking damn good. Even Lanus still has a shot to get out.

San Lorenzo isn't that good they were the worst champions in Argentina history in short tournaments and their players are under insane pressure to win the copa libertadores because they are the only big team in buenos aires never to have won it. It's probably very similar to what Corinthians fans went through for so long.

And I really don't like San Lorenzo so I'm not quite sure why I'm defending them, but they also lost thir coach pizzi who is no in Valencia and replaced him with Bauza. Bauza won the copa with Liga de Quito, but it was thanks to playing with altitude. He also needs to get used to the argentine league. It's a tough balancing act in Argentina where the football is very competitive

O'Higgins choked yesterday: plain and simple. Thankfully their destiny is still in their own hands: a win vs. Lanús next week should do the trick...but maybe they need some help from the Cerro/Lanús game tonight, no?

Well, because if a team is the winner of a league, then at least theoretically, it should be competitive and a favorite amongst its compatriot participants. The Libertadores itself started with champions only.

However, after a bit of research, I found out that San Lorenzo did not defeat any of the other participating teams from your country - draws against Newell's and Vélez, defeats against Lanus and Arsenal, and that of these 4 teams, 3 tied at 2nd with 31 points vs. CASLA's league-winning 33 (and Arsenal finished with 30).

And, in your country, there's only one match against opponents; in mine, it's home and away.

I think sometimes you also need to look beyond the results. As you said, in Argentina like many other countries in copa libertadores we play short tournaments... Or Apertura/Clausura whatever you want to call them

In a 19 game season, the best team doesn't always win. Newell's and Velez are significantly better teams than San Lorenzo and they have been for a while now. Not just in terms of individual talent, but also in terms of style and idea of playing. They each hit a run of bad form which allowed CASLA to sneak away with the title

To people that follow the argentine league it's no surprise at all to see San Lorenzo crashing out. They have been in terrible form in the league too in 2014

I find your country's league system a bit strange. I understand that in Brazil, we have decades-old state tournaments, given the sheer size of Brazil. And it's also true we modernized our national tournament in relatively recent time. But now that the system is sufficiently smooth and straightforward, it's pretty clear-cut. This is why CBF reserves the first half of the year for state tournaments (up until a while back, the Copa do Brasil was held in the first semester - now it stretches from February to November), and the second half is strictly the Campeonato Brasileiro.

The math you guys use to determine relegation is also odd, but I guess that's because you guys have two national champs per year. For us it's the four last ones that go down, replaced by the top 4 from the 2nd division.

Jaime, The goal scorer for Bolivar is actually William Ferreira.

And woo hoo!!! I was hoping for at best a tie. A win in Mexico is sensational!! I believe only the second time a Bolivian team has won in Mexico. First time was also Bolivar but vs. Toluca I want to say in '06.

Leon were extremely wasteful in the first half, they had numerous opportunities to put the game away in the first 45, Bolivar took their chance and got the result.

I dont think Leon will be up to the task to get the win in Brazil.

Told you guys from the beginning. The good Mexican team is Santos, and I see a run to semis there. They got a talisman in their Cepillo Peralta, really enjoy watching that guy play. Guy makes me proud to be ugly.

San Lorenzo's #21 pretty much ran over the Independiente del Valle player in the box and then San Lorenzo go after the referee to complain? It's unfortunate that the 2014 Libertadores has had a post-game fight - nothing of the sort had occurred thus far.

    Clutch by The Strongest.

They won the Apertura tournament, yes, but in Uruguay we use the tabla anual standings from the previous season for qualification.

Don't know how Danubio would do in the Libertadores. Defensor were awful in the Apertura, but they've been doing alright so far.
