    Wow.

America's Libertadores history is truly tragic.

Of all the Paraguayan teams, Cerro Porteño is the most like the Paraguay NT: good defending, great keeper, pressing all over the field, always cutting the other team's passing and making it hard for the other team to keep the ball.

And they can be dangerous in the counters.

Good game so far, very tactical.

Cerro is indeed a pesky team.

As for Paraguay - they lost 2-4 today to a local Argentine NT, but was this the main Paraguayan NT or a team fielding local league players?

Yeah, including the shitty attacking :D

I'm not crazy about naturalizados but I wouldn't mind Fabbro on the NT, he's a quality midfielder, something the NT is really lacking.

I'll swap fat and useless Ortigoza for Fabbro any day.

Both teams had young local teams, kinda reminded me of a U-20 match actually.

Santos takes it 1-0. Cerro played a tactically sound game, but not enough to get them a goal.

Santos missed at least two incredible chances, and the most incredible was that last play right before the game ended. Santos did win in Paraguay earlier in this Copa Libertadores, but there are no guarantees it'll do it again. Still, I trust Santos has what it needs to secure a berth in the finals.

    Ze Eduardo was horrible.

And the FOX Deportes Argentine anchorguys were having seizures when Fabbro had the ball in Santos' box. Oh wait, isn't Fabbro Argentine?

He doesn't like Iturbe, he has barely played since he took over, he usually gets the last 20-30 minutes at best.

Barreto has definitely improved, he was always pretty good but would make some silly mistakes here and there.

He seems to have corrected that and looks much sharper and on point.

At this point he should be preparing with the NT as Villar's backup and should have been called for the Bolivia's friendly but Martino is in love with some fat guy that's on Guarani's bench instead.

And boy hope someone threw a bucket of water at Piris, I lost count of how many times Neymar burned him last night. :D

Any idea why he doesn't like Iturbe? Is it attitude related, or lack of fitness from Iturbe, or simply a tactical decision?

When Iturbe came back to Cerro a few months ago he was an undisputed starter, but eventually other teams have realized he is a one dimensional player and have managed to shut him down, even teams at the bottom of the Paraguayan league have managed to erase him from the field that's why his number of minutes have been smaller and smaller.

Something else that has cough my attention is his amazing lack of fitness, he even says that he doesn't know what the problem is, people were attributing that to not playing for a year but he was supposed to be training and he has played the U20 with Argentina and has been at Cerro for about 6 months already, how long could it possibly take a 17 year old kid to get in shape.

Iturbe is a great prospect but he is nowhere near ready to make a big impact in a European team, he is not even ready to make a big impact in the Paraguayan league, he looked really good playing against 18 year old kids but he has not look the same against grown man.

Hmmm, thanks for the update Dan-ny-m398. I don't think anyone at Porto is really counting on him to make much of an impact next year as a teenager, but it's still a little troubling to hear that he isn't playing at all.

Peñarol vs Velez tonight! Who will win?

Velez has a great attack, and Peñarol is now known for maybe not having as much talent as other teams on paper, but persevering through huevos and garra

There is so much hype in Uruguay that they had to open the standing room area that is always empty because of the bad view and no bathrooms. The 55,000 seats in El Centenario sold out in a manner of minutes

Velez gave back about 1,000 of their tickets for this game and Peñarol fans sold out the 5,000 tickets for the away match in a manner of minutes as well (they cost over 50 US Dollars). Now they might give us a couple thousand more.

The kid has some Messi like flashes of genius but then he spends the next 10 minutes gasping for air, he is also to predictable, maybe a couple of years down the road he will be a great player.

This should be a good game tonight, I think whoever comes out of this series will win the whole thing.

Awesome first half between Velez and Peñarol, both teams creating chances, each doing their thing, playing to its strengths, and a late goal by Peñarol makes it 1-0 at halftime.

This is what futbol is all about, what a great game to watch!
