Yeah, it was definitely a phantom penalty. That was Duarte, a Colombian ref.

Also in the match between Sucre and Deportivo Quito, the ref gave a phantom penalty to Quito, at a time when the game was still in doubt. That was Rodriguez, a Mexican ref, the one who looks like dracula.

Most of the refs have been horrible throughout the tournament.

Otro penal inventado, esta vez Silvera le regalo uno de forma grosera a Palmeiras... claramente el defensa de Sport le pega con la guata y no con la mano a la pelota.

    Palmeiras 1 - 0 Sport Recife PT.

Yeah, that was a BS call. Sure, the ref called an non-existing offside soon afterwards benefiting Sport, so that's two game-defining errors in the first half alone. Still, Sport's midfield is inactive, Dutra is playing a terrible game in the left wing, and Moacir is being too naive in the right wing. I hate to say this, but he needs to dive to ensure that a legit foul is called. Palmeiras have been better, though.

Great. We get the draw, and now we're losing a player.

You are right, Sport has been lacking creativity there in the middle... but still they have managed to create a couple of interesting chances that could've ended in a goal. The goal came after a 4 minute period of constant pressure on the part of Sport... I think they are a better managed team than Palmeiras (even with Luxemburgo at the helm  ) and I'd rather see them go through...

Wilson was very stupid for taking his shirt off. Red card, now Sport has to play the whole second half with 10 men...

The guy on FSE just referred to São Paulo as Brazil's capital. Wonderful.

When Everton played Lanus in Argentina Niembro said that Everton was from Valparaiso... to me that's worse. :p

It could be much, much worse... we could be getting the Mexican feed :D

If we get a draw on this game, I will be supremely satisfied. Nelsinho will have a hard time figuring out which fresh legs to put in. Lets see if this free kick will give us at least a fighting chance with an unexpected goal!

Pelo_Sport_Tudo, did you notice that the main commentator, while not blatantly anti-Brazilian like other Argentines on FSE (like Mariano Closs and Fernando Niembro), makes some funny comments when Brazilian teams score?

He speaks Portuguese for a few moments and his accent is humorous. "GOL DU PAL-MAY-RAHS!" "CAMIZA NOVEH!"

I'm sure he means it nicely; I guess it makes me wonder how South Americans who speak SPanish feel when they hear Brazilians trying to speak Spanish and are clueless about the language.

That PK was a horrible call. Unfair to Sport. At the same time I must admit I want Palmeiras to win - because if they don't they'll have only 3 or 4 points and pretty much bet out of contention. I want Palmeiras to reach 6 points and then, I want both Palmeiras and Sport to surpass Colo Colo and leave them and Liga de Quito behind. Hopefully both Palmeiras and Sport will represent Brazil in the round of 16.

That second save was worth the price of admission.

I'd like that too, but Palmeiras don't need to be given free PKs for that to happen. We still have to play LDU at Quito and Colo Colo at home, so a loss today would make things very difficult for Sport.

This Palmeiras team is good, and it has potential... but it doesn't have emotional self-control. It was noticeably very nervous towards the end; it's as if the players were scared to go on the offense. Sport managed to hold its line and that's all it needed to do.

    Oh well.

Magrao was MOTM and rightfully so. Great saves.

I feel bad for Palmeiras, but if they're going to clutch at Ilha do Retiro only to disappoint at home (again), they probably don't have a place in the round of 16, when it's not for points and rather for survival. Maybe next year. :(

    And that's based on what?
Before playing against Caracas, Santos had a record (including pre-libertadores) of
    8-0-0 GF=18, GC=1.
Still, the Caracas-Santos series was Car 2-2 San / San 3-2 Car

How can it be tougher than playing against a team like that?

El estadio Olimpico de Caracas es de la "Universidad Central de Venezuela" (Caracas tiene un estadio mas pequeno) y ellos no cuidan la cancha.
