ARG 0 - 1 PAR HT Upset in the making ...though not really when one will consider how both teams played in this tourney. I'd say Paraguay's close to their best form ever while Argentina (and Chile) stalled (or are slinding down).
ARG 3 - 1 PAR FT Argentina managed to win this match scoring 3 goals during last 10 mins but that win happend with huge help from the ref. Some calls were really puzzling and Yamila Rodriguez should've be sent off after deliberately attempting to score "hand of god" goal (around 75th min) when the score was still 0-1. She was shown YC but because ref was very lenient earlier - it was her 1st.
Good ol' Conmebol, we like you just the way you are... protectionism that gets you nowhere in women's world soccer.
last ranking 17 th June since then: 38th Chile 1627.13 (H) 0 - 1 Venezuela (1460.63) - friendly - points x1 (H) 1 - 3 Venezuela (1460.63) - freindly - points x1 (N) 2 - 3 Paraguay (1489.74) - tourney - points x3 (N) 2 - 1 Ecuador (1372.8) - tourney - points x3 (N) 5 - 0 Bolivia (1239.09) - tourney - points x3 (N) 0 - 4 Colombia (1690.58) - tourney - points x3 (N) 1 - 1 Venezuela (1460.63) - tourney - points x3 (win on pk's) 40th Chinese Taipei 1585.21 (N) 0 - 2 China (1858.89) - friendly - points x1 (N) 1 - 4 Japan (1910.67) - friendly - points x1 (N) 0 - 4 Korea Rep. (1845.01) - friendly - points x1 Chile was 42 points ahead of Chinese Taipei but they will drop many points from this matches above. I can see them drop past Chinese Taipei in the rankings.
With the latest matches since Jun 17, adjusted ranking points are: AFC - TPE: 1581.14887 CBOL- CHI: 1575.19713 OFC - PNG: 1497.98694 CCAF - HAI: 1445.70828 AFC - CMR: 1420.97508 Safe and away from UEFA's intercontinental play-off bracket: TPE - Seed #2 CHI - Seed #3 PNG - Seed #4 Great opportunity to steal points away from overrated OFC rankings.
@Lechus7 , I think CHI lost lots of points since June 17: Pre-WC qualifiers: 1627.13 -> 1606.3007 WC qualifiers: 1606.30 -> 1575.19713
and just to reiterate - even if CHI is currently ahead of TPE, they likely won't be when the draw is made since the rankings will be updated by then
If Chile does drop below Taiwan (likely), it'll likely be the difference between getting a bye vs. playing, at worst, Cameroon and, at best, Senegal and then playing another team to qualification. My sims have Chile's WC odds dropping by around 20% if they slip under Taiwan, depending on a few things.
Funny why there is a Peru vs Ecuador friendly, when the next competitive game for these two countries will be the 2026 Copa America femenina.
With a stroke of a pen, Women's Copa America 2024 is no more. Concacaf will invite Women's Copa America 2022 semifinalists to its first edition of Women's Copa Oro 2024. Six Conmebol WNTs are left without continental competition until 2026. That's how Conmebol plans to grow South American women's sports. https://www.latercera.com/el-deport...o-con-la-concacaf/ZEPZQSXS3JCWTISBNCUE3S4M7Y/
I can't read the full article on my phone because of an apparant subscription block, but from the text you quoted, it doesn't say anything about the Copa America 2024 being cancelled, just that the top four from 2022 have been invited to the Gold Cup 2024. It would admittedly be quite a crammed calendar for those four of both tournaments happen, but I've yet to see direct confirmation that Copa America 2024 is dead.
Here is an example of a biased referee decision by the Conmebol referee in a recent friendly in Chile between Chile and the Philippines preserving Chile's 1-0 lead until the end of the game. https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=414411700891138 Big mistake(or biased officiating) by the referee when she issued her 2nd yellow card to Philippine midfielder Sara Eggesvik. There was no foul. Not only did this reduce the Philippine team to 10 women but she totally ignored the fact that one of the Chilean players was guilty of a handball in the penalty box. Chile's #10 player totally faked it.
Update on 2024: The C'CAF Gold Cup that will take the top four C'BOL 2022 teams as guests will be played in late Feb/early March TBD what it means for C'BOL to continue the 2024 Copa themselves as originally planned.
