...oh well, rickker is right, let's not go to Copa America anymore shall we? In fact...let's stop playing football...why bother? Hey, maybe abolish any competitive sport while we are at it...you are a genius rickker.

You guys do not want to admit that chilean futbol is not that good. Ok belive what you want but Im not expecting anything great to happen at this cup. Many times this guys have let me down.

To many problems players quiting the team Pizzaro for example and others. Players fighting between each other same thing all the time.

I wish them luck but I would be suprise if we are out in the first round.

in Copa America 1999 it only took 1 win (3 points) against Venezuela to get to the Quarter Finals.

Actually you are wrong. MOST of use have admitted that the state of Chilean futbol is not that good, but that doesnt mean we should just give up in every competition and loose hope.

    There can always be a 1st ...

I think the problem is "we" the fans are passionate and very emotional about the game, but unfortunately our national team has never really been able to live upto the hype (they almost did it in '98). So when there is too much hype and the team doesn't provide results, there are too many letdowns, excuses, finger-pointing going on. The team needs to focus on making news "ON" the field as opposed to "OFF" the field.
If I interpret the message correctly, Rickker20 is just pointing out that he is expecting the same here. All hype, but no results, as has been the case for many years now. :(

Although that is a fact, I do not necessarily think it needs to prevent us from dreaming that one day our team will give us what we all so dearly want ... a championship and to say "we are the champions ..." :D

At the very least, we can enjoy this Copa America run, and comment on the team's performance, which is really what the forums are all about.

This is a very good point and I enjoy dreaming, the problem is that the more I know about the world soccer landscape the more I realize the dream is just smoke and mirrors made up by the Chilean press hype.

I've been in the Nacional many times and my dreams shattered many many times. I've done crazy things to keep up with the team and dreaming is not enough for me, I want long term change and I want it now; regardless of the cost.

See, saying that is much better than just saying "We suck, we will loose 2-0 to acuador"

    I like your sig, Pablinski.

Anyway, I doubt the press or the fans have been clouded by this victory, I think everyone knows our team played horrible. The victory was nothing short of a miracle.
