LMQ better than Molina at RB? You can't be serious.

Obviously he has his weaknesses, but there's a reason why Molina is Scaloni's #1 choice at RB.

I feel LMQ is better at defending than Molina, but his ball progression & link-up ability is pretty strong as well.

The problem with Molina is that his crossing is not very good, other than the assist vs Poland, it’s too easy for the opposition to pick out.

I'm not sure what games you have been watching (I'm not going to mention Atletico Madrid as the majority of the players had bad season last year), but Molina's crossing has been good when he's allowed to bombard up the field. With a RW and RDP moving to the right side a lot, there's not much opportunity for Molina to attack the right hand side as often.

Quarta's sample size at RB is incredibly small to determine that his defending, ball progression and link up play is much better than Molina's.

I also think it wouldn't hurt to try out MQ as RB once against these weak opponents. He has good enough technique for the position + with Licha starting we're really needing some players above 1.80m.

They're ok. They're our weakest link though cause we have top forwards, mids, central defenders, and goalkeeper. Mediocre means average, not world beaters.

Molina already proof himself at WC. He just need to show more consistency . He made so many dangerous overlapping run at WC, two of them which resulted a goal and an assist. He also outpaced anyone in our second goal against Croatia, providing Julian with passing option. He literally left the rest of our team to dust with that sprint .

According to latest report, Otamendi could possibly starts against Chile. While I prefers Licha, I dont think it would be costly as Chile and Peru dont have speed like Canada, and Otamendi does gives aerial threat from set pieces in case they decided to bunker.

Messi will face Chile at the exact stadium where he missed his pk 8 years ago.

    Time for revenge.

Technically he already avenged it. His winning penalty in 2018 qualifier eventually cost Chile the WC spot.

Would prefer an actual winger on that left wing (Nico Gonzalez in the 1st half and Garnacho in the 2nd)

We need more speed in the team. We'll see how it is in today's training.

I don’t know why, but I feel this could be Lautaro’s breakthrough tournament. He hasn’t really had a tournament where he stood out or made decisive goals, but I have a feeling he will this time around. Hopefully, he really needs that standout NT moment

Anyway, Scaloni’s supposed doubts for tomorrow’s match vs Chile:

    - Otamendi or Licha
    - Acuña or Tagliafico
    - Nico Gonzalez or Di Maria
    - Julian or Lautaro

Unless they are injured or playing badly, I'm not a fan of changing the defense too much during tournaments (especially in CBs). I'm not sure what the thought process is of changing from Licha to Otamendi and I'm sure Scaloni has his reasons, but I'm hoping he sticks to a CB pairing for the rest of the tournament.

I agree with you on Lautaro. He seems pretty determined and I wouldn't be surprised if Lautaro becomes the starting 9 for this team in this tournament.

Chile normally presses a lot. Would like to see Romero and Lisandro get more time to develop their anti-press play.

Similar case to the other stadium, this stadium also has turf and they are putting natural grass on top of it.

Let's just hope all players arrive to the final (if we make it) in perfect health and the pitches don't injure anyone.

Yup, Metlife is complete shit. Largely known as the worst turf in the NFL. I dont have much hope that the grass on top will be better.

They should hang their heads in shame esp. if an injury occurs as a result. We want to see flowing football not hampered by a surface that is constantly sliding under your feet so that you cannot turn sharply or accelerate. Or come to a sharp stop.

and of those 6 Chile wins only one was an official match (1-0 in 2008 for WCQs), the rest were friendlies

Absolutely. My man, I’ve been watching close to 50 years, and I have not seen such a “sliding” surface than what I saw in Atlanta the other day.

The U.S. should be ashamed of putting out surfaces like this. A pitch with divets is better than a pitch where it feels like you might be skating with cleats.
