What a crazy match. It was similar to Ecuador in many ways, but with Colombia having more quality players. It looked like Colombia had more energy, despite having one day less with rest. As we have mentioned earlier, its so easy to beat our midfield, our kryptonite is turnovers high up the pitch and quick transitions. All 3 of them in the middle are slow, Mac can hang with this issue more than RDP and Enzo who are struggling, especially RDP. He made so many many mistakes and didnt help Montiel who had 2 players on him. I think Montiel did a decent job considering that. Scaloni really needs to give young players more chance. The sub were clutch, especially Paredes and Lautaro.

I really liked Paredes energy and his vision. My man of the match has to go to Licha, what an outstanding player. Dealt with everything that came his way. Romero close second, but two of them together are so good. They understand each other so well.

    Congrats boys!

Ya, I always thought the best aspect of Lautaro's game is his positioning. Hopefully Julian will leave Man City for a club where he can play has the weekly striker and am looking forward to seeing how he plays for Argentina without having to run for 2. Good thing is that both our strikers easily broke their scoreless streak. We are good at that position. Need to work on re-finding sharpness in midfield, probably by introducing some youngsters and filling Messi and Di Maria's shoes.

This is why the no ET rules is such a dumb thing. WC and Euro has an ET yet not the CA. Its definetely the way conmebol trying to help the weaker sides to get the game into penalties, thus increasing their chance to win it.

Spain beat Germany on ET, we did it aswell in final against Colombia. The Ecuador game, we would have beaten them in ET.

Just realized that our last game we played against Spain was our 6-1 loss! We haven’t played them since. How different in a space we were back then as a team. Shudder.

The Finalissima should be a cracking game.

Scaloni almost pretty much confirmed that Messi will play the 2026 World Cup, injury permitting.

Scaloni: “I want Leo Messi to continue and never leave, he wants that too. He wants to play because he wants to help his teammates. He knows he means a lot to them.”

Feel really good for Lautaro; his redemption is complete.

Lautaro Martínez: “When the Qatar World Cup ended, I was very happy, but deep inside, I knew I owed the national team on a personal level. So, I prepared for this tournament in the best possible way to get rid of the thorn stuck inside me.”

Dare I say, we need to increase the size of the badge perhaps, God-willing, to include the 2026 World Cup???!?!??

ESPN FC was talking about they should get rid of ET and that they will. Moreover, they were like Conmebol has it right. I was like oh, hell, no. You’ll have weak ass teams bunkering from the get go to go play for penalties. Bunkering for 90 is one thing but 120 is another animal.

I noticed that Lautaro has a good record against Colombia. He scored against them in CA 2021 semi and the winning goal in qualifier 2022.

Btw, its always fun to imagine, so lets imagine our previous #9 in that Lautaro situation... :D

Its definetely a BIG disadventage for a team that has a good depth like Argentina.

Our goal against Switzerland its another example. As useless as Palacio was, his fresh energy eventually won us the ball in midfield which led the the winning goal.

Italy aint beating Germany on penalties in 2006 but they got their winning goals deep in ET.

I watched that segment and it seemed to be more a concession to the fact that greedy clubs want more and more games so ET will go away because of it, not because they think it's better.

It would be a travesty if it is taken away. ET brings another layer to the game. If they can’t to get rid of ET, do it at club level. Leave it alone in international play or cut down on the number of games and tournaments are played per season.

England has the PL, the FA Cup; some teams go into Europe with the CL, EL and the Conference League. Not to mention that other cup game, what is it now, the Golden Corral Cup? Now expanding the CWC? It’s an absolute shit show. Back in the day it was just the champions of Europe v the champions v of South America.

It's all about money, the big clubs in europe have an insatiable thirst for more and more money, no amount of money is ever going to be enough, if they had an income of £10 billion a year they would want £20 billion a year. It's a never ending cycle.

Its backwards and honestly against football and fairness. Why give such an advantage for teams to camp for 90 minutes? Hope they do something about it.
