Copa America 2020 (in 2021) not in Colombia & Argentina, but maybe Brasil? (Pre-thread)

I am still sticking with my unpopular hot take that we should just send benchers too.

    Diaz------------Falcao---------Sinisterra/Roger/Carrascal/Cucho/whoever emerges

    Cardona--------Campuzano-----Uribe

    Fabra-------Jeison-----Lucumi--------Munoz

    ----------------Vargas--------------------------------

    Not a bad "B" team.

    We need to win!!

colombia has 1 trophy with a * because teams sent b teams or didn’t show up. If they don’t send their real squads this time that is on them.

James and Ospina have to come. If one of Mina or Sanchez want to stay at home I am fine with that to give Lucumi time.

but bringing almost retired falcao but not Duvan is dumb.

none of these guys know if we will qualify or make it to the WC. Let them win a title. Pretty sure James wants to lift a title with Colombia

Queiroz and the Federation will probably play to win and probably play most of the starters.

I am just saying what I would do. Remember Qualifiers are that Summer and in September.

Falcao saved our arses in Chile. I think he deserves a last hurrah as captain.
But I would not mind seeing the younger guys start too. He just seems to have more of a killer instinct than they do even at his old age.

If Ospina or James get injured in the Copa America you will be the first one here complaining if we are missing them in crucial World Cup Qualifiers.
    Let's keep it real here.

I agree with crzd. Because Colombia will host it, Colombia needs to win an Int'l trophy. We don't have the luxury to disrespect any important tournament and we need to play with our best players. Injury risks are part of the game. Falcao missed 2014 WC because of silly French cup game but this is life. Besides, if James will injury during the Copa, thewy will miss around 2-4 matches, if any. Not the end of the world. Colombia has a good pool players today. In a long run tournament, anyone can contribute. In a short run tournament we need all the big guns.

I respect that opinion and know the Federation and coach will go that route.

I personally just see it this way. The World Cup always has priority with me.
And with the players and depth we have our benchers are sometimes as good or better than the starters though. (Look at Lerma and Mojica for instance.)

So I do not see it that much as disrespecting. Just giving some guys a chance to prove their worth or older guys one last chance to start some competitive matches.

I love seeing our team play :(

it should be canceled till after the WC but we need friendlies.

the us nt is still playing why can’t we play Venezuela or one of those crap concacaf teams the US scores 12 on

you guys laugh about that but then they get the Uk visa for games played or get seen by euro teams

Copa America is fine, but having one every year kind of reduces its value. Take the chance that Covid gave them and wait until 2023.

I think the WC will get postponed to a year later. No time to qualify.

I can see Messi or Neymar getting covid and Comenbol canceling the games for that month
or Anything to help their two favorite children

So we're playing the qualifiers a couple days before this tournament and then forcing the players to play in Bogota on top of that...

The whole thing seems very surreal and misguided
