As stated, he knows him and how he fits within his tactical plans and is going to give him a chance. That said, he probably won't be on the active roster anyway unless he really impresses in camp. (Only 23 players can be on the active roster.)
We would not play Brazil in the hypothetical next round so I did not mention them. Not sure about Argentina but based on the last game I would probably favor them unless good adjustments are made.
Leaving out Valoyes and Carbonero and Alzate... Seems a bit nuts to me. Yimmi Chara? If you aren't gonna start call people we need to blood in the system. Come on man.
Imagine if we make a very solid run... Boy that would make quite the statement and put us in a very promising future especially without players like James, Arias, and Falcao.
We do have new blood. Campaz is a solid player. I am surprised he picked Otero though. Chara I am not as suprised due to his familiarity and he is kicking major arse in MLS (Yes, I know MLS sucks but still, he also looked decent in the CONCACAF Champions League against Mexican teams.) I am not the biggest Alzate fan but I do not dislike him either. I don't know why so many people are surprised to not see him on the team though. .
How was it a good impression? Please explain to me. I do not remember which game you are referring to.
I must have not been watching him as keenly as you and others but to me he did not stand out that much. And if he did it was under a different system and manager. Obviously Rueda was not that impressed or he just does not see how he could fit within his system compared to the players he has in camp, Maybe he could be on the roster instead of Perlaza but that guy has impressed a lot at Nacional both on the field technically and for his personality in the games I have watched.
It is tough. There's only so many players that can be on a roster and he has a relationship with his Nacional buddy core and Cuellar.. Nothing to sigh about. Those two in Argentina will get their chance eventually if they are really that good.
The thing is the NT should reward form not nepotism. The two kids in Argentina were revelations this year. I haven't heard anyone talk about Otero in ages. Cardona hasnt been in form. Chara? I hope it works for him but it's lame not to capitalize on the form those kids are on to prep for the fall. I will sigh as much as I like, thank you. Sigh...
True. But out of all the things to sigh about not having two unproven guys from Argentina on the Copa roster seems to be the least of our problems.
more annoyed that the league is still going. maybe some of these guys in the semis could be on the NT. would have preferred if we had 40 players for the last 2 weeks and then sent 12 home. Giving the coach time with them.
That's the point. This is a risk free time to call them and test. Vs. calling people who will never see the field in this process because they are a good hang. It's just a squandered opportunity. I'm not sure when you sigh but 'not that big a deal moments that baffle you' seem like the appropriate time to me!
I only sigh when I read Crzd's posts. (Just kidding Crzd, you know I like you like a little brother.)
Extra side note: imagine James seeing that Chara call up! I hope he is well versed in sighing as a de-stress technique too!
James will be too busy hanging out with Juanes or whatever new celeb he is hanging out with to care. What is Carlos Vives up to these days?
That Otero call is bizarre. He's not young anymore. He didn't have a brilliant season in Mexico. Wasn't cutting it in French 2nd division. I don't like the Chara call, but I can kind of undersand it. Rueda must've noticed how short on creativity we are. Like Campaz, everybody else available is completely green. He knows and trusts Chara. I can deal with that. But Otero...what a blunder of a call
Campaz and Borja are on the squad and just missed the semis. Clearly that's not important factor for Rueda. He could've had Campaz, Otero, Lucumi, and Chara from the get-go. He doesn't want a big group.
