Indeed. As people have speculated they have waited until the week of the NBA Finals to officially announce it.
So plenty of options for those who want to watch the Copa https://www.livesoccertv.com/match/3231239/brazil-vs-bolivia/ Telemundo over the air and cable/sat, Telemundo streaming, NBC streaming and ESPN+ streaming for English comm.
ESPN plans to use its own commentators for 12 of the 26 games in South America's championship, which starts Friday and runs through July 7. The tournament is being played in Brazil, and ESPN will rely on the world feed that includes a one-man broadcast by Jon Cotterill. ESPN will use its own commentators from the quarterfinals on. https://www.dailyherald.com/article/20190610/sports/306109918
@socceraction FuboTV is listing the Copa America on TYC sports on their apps. This has to be an obvious mistake right? Or are they breaking some sort of weird news that will have NBC/Telemundo taking them to court?
Has to be a mistake on fuboTV's side. The only place TyCSports has the rights is in Argentina itself... SA www.soccertvblog.com
Question/Concern- did espn+ get rid of the rewind option when matches are live? It wasn’t possible during todays euro qualifiers. I probably will slightly delay when I start watching the Copa America matches and would hate to have to wait until they archive them!!?
you can rewind live matches which are on ESPN+ but you can't rewind the ones on ESPN3. Most of the qualifiers were on ESPN3.
So far they are 2 for 2 in using their own announcers. Does that mean we will have the world feed in 14 of the remaining 16 group stage matches? We can only hope.
No commentary at all in English for the first 4 minutes of Argentina v Colombia. Then the Venezuelan guy finally comes on. It was nice while it lasted. *switches to Portuguese *
I'm 5 minutes into Venezuela-Peru and it's just stadium sound, which I don't dig. I didn't see anything mentioned about this game upthread. Does any commentary kick in or should I go to Portuguese? I don't speak Portuguese but I always prefer any commentary over stadium sound. BTW, for folks who have not been participating in the BeIN Libertadores discussions, Cotterell (sp?) is very good. He did Brazil league games for decades.
In case anyone is behind on games: it took 15 minutes before English commentary started. I have no idea why ESPN is having such a hard time starting the English commentary from the beginning. They must be training some high schooler in Connecticut for a summer job working as the main engineer for ESPN+.
Since it has not been mentioned... ...all the group stage matches are available on the Digital platform apps/ Telemundo website without authentication. That is a kind gesture on NBC/Telemundo's behalf. IT is a great way to stick it to ESPN+ too. *Something of note, if you are going to watch using a browser on pc/mac you have to turn off your adblock if you have one.
Yeah, let's stick it to the streaming service that while not perfect has given us more football than any other one before it at the exorbitant price of (checks notes) $5/month! Gonna pick up my pitchfork right now.
In fairness, I think that's how OTA networks should stream. Since this stuff is available for many with a pair of rabbit ears. But yes I appreciate what Telemundo and Univision offer online, for sure.
You don't get what I am trying to say. NBC is trying to stick it to ESPN in my opinion because it is easier to find a Copa Stream at work and on the go on the NBC Sports App than it would be for someone who is browsing the ESPN app. If someone goes to NBC or Telemundo and sees that the streams automatically start for free and is like wow Copa America, wait I have to pay 5 bucks for ESPN and register... ... that's whats it is all about. What you are saying has no relevance to what I am saying.
This has not been mentioned but Globo TV International also has (Brazilian) Portuguese broadcast rights for select matches in the group Stage and most of the knockout stage. I thought ESPN+ had exclusive rights to that language but apparently that is not the case.
Going to channel my inner EvanJ and mention that ESPN has the wrong graphic on their ESPN APP. It looks like the one for the Centenario and not for the Brazilian Copa America.
