If they win a tournament. Please just win a tournament for once for the love of [insert deity]. So many finals so many times come up short.
Feels good to see our guys kick some ass for a change. Lets hope for an encore performance on the 4th against Chile.
We are so near yet so far . We are going to play against second best team in the tournament who have complete home support. They are playing and training in the same place from last 1 month [yes all chiles matches were on same stadium ]. And Till now they got so much favors from referees from either penalty calls or opponent red card. Lets hope we all can have smile on our face when whistle blows in the final. Vamos
Defeating a team at home in the final is never easy. Last time we were in Santiago, we beat Chile. Granted, different manager since then, but I am confident we can beat them. We do need to score first, it will shut the crowd up and it will force Chile to press a bit more and it will causes gaps in their defense. It will be great seeing this generation to finally win something.
To be honest I have low expectation after series of medicore performance in friendly and then the 2-2 draw in first match but we showed nerve against Uruguay and Colombia and today Tata's team played their best football and hopefully they could maintain it for at least one more match.
I loved seeing the transformation of Messi becoming an absolute leader in this match, did anyone else get that feeling?
I wish Di Maria play in last year semifinal and final. His performance today shows what's missing in our last 2 World cup games. Messi was tired , Kun still injured and we're stuck with Palacio greatness.
Dude, don't sh#t on Palacio. If was picking an indoor team, and my 9 year old nephew was not available, my girlfriend didn't feel like playing, my brother was hung-over, my 5 year old niece couldn't play b/c she was wearing a dress, then I would totally consider Palacio as a substitute
I for one was happy we didn't have to suffer an entire game. It feels like the World Cup we suffered every game. It was fun relaxing and enjoying a game for a change. As for players being there and not, not many complained that Pastore was not there, he was tried out early during Sabella's tenure but didn't impress. He wasn't exactly that great that season either, he lifted his game this season was nominated as one of the best in Ligue 1. We reached a World Cup final with limited resources, a proud achievement. I know it feels a bit hallow, however, winning the CA can give the players and fans a bit of joy.
Imagine if we were the WC & CA champion - argument for greatest Argentinean team ever. But alas, was not mean to be. Let's win on Saturday first
With this generation of players, it possibly could have been. But alas...let's win this Saturday, and then the 2018 World Cup, God-willing. They still could be remembered as the greatest Argentinean team ever.
Still not impossible if we win this final and go on to win the next WC. Add to that maybe the Confederation. Between 1978-1993 we won 2 World cup (In 3 finals) , 2 Copa, and Confederation. That proof its not impossible to have a good run in major tournament for extended period. Oddly enough though, other teams like Germany, France, Italy and Brazil seems to have more world class players back then but we were able to win thropies. In last 2 decades we probably produced the most world class player yet not be able to win anything other than being a runner up. This would be third Copa final for Mascherano and 4th final if includes World cup, it would be a footballing crime to see him empty handed when he retire.
