The USMNT has not played in the Copa since 1995 I see no reason why they should be seeded.

I think Gold Cup might be more of a priority for Mexico cause if they win it they get a spot in the Confeds Cup in 2009.

So Mexico will play both tournaments with their best squad then? Will be tiring.

doesn't matter which seed, or unseeded, but the US shouldn't end up in Mexico's group...

No one should be seeded really. It's hard to seed only 12 teams. The UEFA Euro can because, well, they have a lot more members.

There should be 3 seeds: Argentina, Brazil, Venezuela (hosts).

Other than that, it's just a draw. I'd like to avoid Mexico in the group stages, but if we don't, then we don't. It happens. Besides, how much fun would this group be?

    Argentina
    USA
    Mexico
    Uruguay

Damn, I know I'd have fun watching it, even if we didn't get out of it. But regardless, seed Argentina, Brazil, and the hosts, then just let the draw fall as it may and play the games.

I bet $200 that Brasil and Paraguay will end up in the same group

They always do, in any tournament (senior, youth, women's, futsal, pre-olympics, u-15, toddler's, robot, special, blind, deaf, etc

History of teams grouped up from 1991, since 1993 there were 3 groups created:

1991 Group A - ARG "CHI" PAR PER VEN
1993 Group A - "ECU" URU USA VEN
1995 Group A - MEX PAR "URU" VEN
1997 Group A - ARG CHI ECU PAR
1999 Group A - BOL JPN "PAR" PER
2001 Group A - CHI "COL" ECU VEN
2004 Group A - BOL COL "PER" VEN

1991 Group B - BOL BRA COL ECU URU
1993 Group B - BRA CHI PAR PER
1995 Group B - BRA COL ECU PER
1997 Group B - "BOL" PER URU VEN
1999 Group B - BRA CHI MEX VEN
2001 Group B - BRA MEX PAR PER
2004 Group B - ARG ECU MEX URU

1993 Group C - ARG BOL COL MEX
1995 Group C - ARG BOL CHI USA
1997 Group C - BRA COL CRC MEX
1999 Group C - ARG COL ECU URU
2001 Group C - BOL CRC HON URU (ARG, CAN withdrew)
2004 Group C - BRA CHI CRC PAR

For 2007 my guess would be:

    Group A
    Venezuela
    Paraguay
    Ecuador
    USA

    Group B
    Brasil
    Peru
    Mexico
    Uruguay

    Group C
    Argentina
    Chile
    Bolivia
    Colombia

    Based on what I've heard,
Venezuela is going to play in the SouthWest (Tachira)
    Argentina in the NorthWest (Maracaibo)
Brasil in the East (Puerto Ordaz/Ciudad Bolivar)

Who else thinks the US will be in Brazil's group, just so CONMEBOL can make sure the USMNT goes home early?

Well I'll tell you this much it doesn't matter what group you put Mexico in I assure you they will still make it to the knockout stage Mexico has proven that they are a force to be reccon with! Those were straight from the mouth of former Argentina nt coach Jose Pekerman. I like the fact that Mexico will be bringing their big guns to the show our european based players. Now that thats said and done for now my question is how are the stadiums coming along for copa america 2007 I understand that they were building new stadiums anyone have any photos of these stadiums?

mosco no offense but mexico will make it because they will bring their WC qualfing and playing team to the copa AMerica and every SA country will bring their sub 23 teams, even then u guys dont get that far

In peru the top 4 teams were brasil sub 23 champ, argentian olympic team, Uruguay main squad, and then colombia with a mix of subs and sub 23.
Im not saying that if all the South American teams brought their A teams u wouldnt make it to the 2nd round but it wouldnt be as easy. All the teams have really stepped it up and the only weak team I see is Boliva... every one else is very dangerous especially Venezuela and chile has been makign alot of quality mid fielders... will be a very good cup...

Mexico is a good team but the reason they seem so good is because they take everything too seriously and really really want to win something... all the commentators and spanish channels r mexican channels so they really pump u guys up to thinking ur better than u r.. I remember when Mexico lost to Arg in teh WC ( great game by the way) and on univison they keep saying how all mexicans should be ashmaed because they lost to Argentina !!! IM like u serious !!!!

saying th is I dont mind if mexico does well as long as the US get rocked lol and doesnt past the 1st round.... I hate it when my friends r like hey we were 5th in the world haha...

It's way too early to tell who's bringing who. Every NT out there is "rebuilding", so there is no true A team at this point.

Hey I like your humbleness and yeas Argentina is a great side with great history along with Brazil, But when a team like Mexico does good against great opponents on the world stage and has good results it just feels good inside out!! I know some countries in south america don't care about copa america and use their B or C squad like Brazil and Argentina do or a combination of A and B. But for Mexico to have the competition is great against any squad Argentina or Brazil throw out on the field. I also hope USA gets a taste of reality playing strong south american oppenents for a difference instead of them playing the same friendly's they play over and over like Denmark and Jamaica. that way the USA realizes what the years Mexico had to go through to get some respect from these countries not to mention some of the word!!
