I feel like the 4-2-4 was the wrong choice today. It's too bad we didn't see how Paquetá was going to be used with 11 on the field, so we're lucky we scored early in the 2nd half. Having said that, I think that 4-2-4 is going to be our starting formation whenever Tite does not expect to be pressed. (So, basically, against minnows, not aggressive teams - even if they are defensive). I also really like the movement of Alex Sandro and Danilo in inside channels instead of outside that was used in some matches. Against Peru it worked quite well and I expect to see Alex Sandro if he is healthy. I'm happy with the tactical tests, but underwhelmed by the individual performances up front. Surprised Fred did so well. It's good for us, but also very unexciting. I hope Gerson or Bruno Guimarães or someone else can still find their way in to that spot and one of Fred or Douglas Luiz get dropped. What the hell do we do up front though???
Honestly it was a big brain fart form GJ ... 100% sure he didn't mean anything bad by it. You could see by his reaction right away. And the game vibe wasn't one that he'd kick someone in the face. Hope he only gets 1 game suspension but we will see.
I guess Tite is going with more like a 4-2-4 again ... with Paqueta in mid in front of Casemiro and Fred.
I missed the first half due to work (well, it's in added time now) and it sounds like I missed easily our first half of the tournament so far. That's good, it's the right time to play like this, just hope the missed chances don't bite us in the as.
Yes it's by far our best showing so far with the team more "solto". Just a bit of slopiness in some plays and it could have been 3 x 0. Just not sure if it's due to how bad Peru have been.
Indeed, it's been a joy to watch, even though I only caught the match from the 20' mark. It appeared that Brazil's productivity had been on a downward curve from the 2 goleadas at the start of the tournament, so as Ombak said, it's the right time for Brazil to play like this. Neymar showed his talent by beating 3 Peruvian defenders (with a 4th approaching) before he then sent the ball to Lucas Paquetá, who scored.
Peru's 2 changes at HT have had an effect on the game. Tite needs to make an adjustment if he doesn't want a surprise. Game in the first half was too easy.
I think after the earlier play the ref decided he wouldn't give Richarlison a call unless he tried to stay on his feet. That was a very straightforward PK.
Bit of a surprise from Tite, but when you consider he took Lodi out for Militao, he needs the width up front, instead of Firmino, who Tite would normally bring in up front.
I just wouldn't have taken Richarlison out ... unless he is tired or something is wrong with him. Defends better than Vin Jr.
Brazil needs to stop asking for PKs while the play is happening. Two guys on the right and instead of trying to make a play Neymar just stands there. If you play on either the penalty actually happens or someone has a shot on goal.
I think we'll all prefer to remember the first half and forget the second. Even I will despite not having watched it.
