We are less than a month away and I wanted to open up the thread for Copa America. Only discussion regarding the tournament should go in here. General Seleção talk should still be done in this thread. The thread will be closed when the tournament begins and I will open a new Seleção thread after the tournament. Individual game threads for our games will be created during the tournament and for the friendlies before the tournament.

I also created a poll on this thread. I want to gauge who people feel have the best chance to win the tournament, excluding Brazil.

I'm going to wait until it's closer to make a prediction but I think it's colombia's time. I don't think chile can do it even with home field advantage, they have been exposed over the past 2 years. I'm looking forward to seeing the selecao in competitive action , I'm pretty optimistic as of right now.

I'm with lawson. If not Brazil, then I'm expecting Colombia to win it. Even though Argentina has Messi they have too many players out of form.

My concern with Colombia is with Falcao, believe it or not. They are going to be forced to play him because of his status and I'm afraid his poor form this season will carry over and be detrimental to the team. I need to see how he looks in the friendlies leading up.

I view falcao playing less at united as a positive. i did see him have some real good moments but yea it was a bad season but it wasn't like he was getting consistent game time and he was forced to play up front with Rooney. Falcao to me is a player who needs to play every week but i think like that with any striker that you want monster production from. He will get much better service with Colombia.

I picked Argentina though Colombia was my 2nd pick!! I know this isn't March Madness, but my Final 4 are Argentina, Uruguay, Colombia, and Chile!! We will get knocked out in the quarterfinals again!!

I know International form is different from club form but alot of Colombia main players are out of form that would be one of my main concern for them and the second would be their defense without the leadership of Yepes.

Getting rid of yepes will actually help them more then it will hurt them. They can actually play a high line now. There defense has played so deep over the years to accommodate him. Brasileirao teams dont even play as deep as colombia did with yepes. I like there young options to replace him too.

I think Chile will finally get their trophy this year. They have a good, determined team playing at home. Plus I heard their manager will have them train outside the country to avoid the pressure and media.

Colombia's World Cup run was a fluke to me. I think they benefitted greatly from their lack of quality opponents. I can't see them beating any of the better teams in Copa America. I know its just me but thats how I feel.

Argentina will choke like they always do.

Plus if Bravo brings his Barcelona club form to the Copa, Chile could reach the final!! But I'm sure they will make the final 4!!

At some point in the tournament, Chile might have to go through us or Argentina maybe even both and they haven't fared well against both team lately even at home.

Chile hasn't played well against anyone since the World Cup from what I've seen. Some fans even wanted the coach fired a few months back.

We didn't exactly dominate them the last two matches we played. We went through penalties at the WC and then a last 20 min Firmino goal in London. And that was after they were easily going through us. This may be the tournament they finally beat us.

Essa Copa vai ser uma baba. Esse time ta' com tanto craque que parece a Selecao de 70. E ainda vamos meter 7 x 1 nos Argentinos pra descontar o acidente do ano passado. Neymar e Firmino, ninguem segura esses garotos :D

Its been a while guys but I'm back after along and hard semester. Anyway I think its Chile time to shine but I feel Argentina needs this more then anyone (excluding us after the disaster last summer). Chile has a good mdifield and will be motivated to play at home. Argentina has alot of attacking power but we shall see if thay can carry their world cup form from last year to the Copa. In all I hope we win because we really need this.

Looks like FRED from shakhtar Donetsk will be his sub.
So now a good part of our midfiled is gone.

That is a big blow. One of our most important players and best midfielder.

Massive blow. Perhaps David Luiz will take that spot.

    Unleash the Felipe Melo.
