Match kicks off at 3:00 local time (10:00 EST). Almancilense is a 3rd division team, could be a good chance for Kenny to get on track with a goal.

Here's the matchtracker for those of us who understand Portuguese:

0-0 after 20 mins, Cooper started, scored a "goal" which was disallowed for a foul on the GK...game being played on a waterlogged pitch following torrential rain...

    God, I love internet translations...

"Golo annulled to the Académica: Gary Cooper jumped more high than the guard-nets of the Almancilense, puts the ball inside the beacon, but will have done absence about Bean before of the technical gesture. " :D

BTW, it was Gary Cooper on the disallowed goal, not Kenny. :D

Oh great... now we have to worry about "technical gestures" from players not named Mathis.... :)

Gary Cooper subbed out in 73' for Sarmento

I'm assuming this sub was a tactical sub and not because they still think Cooper isn't fit enough to go 90.

You can't get much from that matchtracker so we'll probably have to wait for '66 to let us know how things went for Cooper.

    Most likely scenario.

Well, of course, as he's the best source of info here in regards to Gary.

According to "sources" who were at the game Cooper (Kenny not Gary) played well, held the ball up well, drew several fouls in dangerous areas, was unlucky his "goal" didn't count. Academica has now won thrre of the four games Cooper has started and even though he hasn't scored yet ( it happens to strikers) he has done well.

At least they didn't call him Gary Coleman... though calling him D.B. Cooper would lend a certain mystique. ;)

Your input here re: KC is always welcomed... by me at least.

Europeans always think Americans are a bunch of Hollywood cowboys (or so my wife says), which is probably why they get Kenny Cooper confused with Gary Cooper

thanks, even the occasional compliment seems very hard to come by on these boards.

Tony Simoes is an old team-mate of mine and Tony is now "El Presidente" or somesuch at Academica, it was Tony who arranged the loan from Man U through his friendship with Carlos Quieros.

I, too, always enjoy your updates.

Just curious, do you get your info on Kenny's performances via email or phone? It just occurred to me that if it was by phone, you must have some kind of phone bill!

Either way, thanks for the continuing info!

WIth all the mentions of "Gary" Cooper... I can't get the song "puttin on the ritz" out of my head...
Dressed up like a million dollar trouper
Trying hard to look like Gary Cooper (super duper)
    Come let's mix where Rockafellers
Walk with sticks or umbrellas in their mitts
    Puttin' on the ritz

Thanks for the updates on Kenny... lets hope the win shows he helps the team and maybe he'll get more starts.

Bottom line....Academica wins...when Cooper starts....even the portuguese should be able to figure this out...or maybe not...

Apparently not....Cooper was on the bench at Rio Ave and came on for the last 9 minutes of a 3-1 loss.....
