    Estoril 0:1 Académica

Academica grabbed a rare away win yesterday at Estoril, when Brazilian player Rafael Gaúcho scored in the 53rd minute. Cooper was on the bench but did not play.

hey Mike Renshaw.....what's the chances that young Cooper's rep tell the Portuguese side ("either Cooper starts playing or we are backing out on the loan after Xman")...after all, what's the point of a loan for young player (if they aren't playing)...

I think the jump to Portuguese div 1 was a bit ambitious considering the kid does not even know the langauge. I think he would benefit by going to a English Coca Cola League team or better yet a division 2 team. It is all about the confidence my friends and it seems like the Portuguese experiment is steering Kenny Cooper into the next Jovan Kirovski!

No doubt there is a period in which to adjust to a totally different environment. also no doubt the young man need to play more than he is...can't at this time really say much more in an open forum....just watch this space....

Now that the 'Landon Donovan Memorial "Home-sick" Loan Allocation' is about to be vacant, perhaps FC Dallas would be of interest.

What are the chances that the club tells the rep: take him. His resume said ManU, so we assumed he was good. After seeing him, we think he was signed as a favor to a friend of the family who has connections at ManU

    Or something like that

    ;)

And maybe that would be best for all involved.

The point of Cooper going over there was to get some playing time, to learn a new way of playing, and to improve his technical skills, which did need improving (all my opinion).

Having said that, there is no such thing as a guaranteed starter in professional football. The coach makes the decisions, and the players follow. There were no guarantees when Kenny went to Académica, and the club owes him nothing except his wages.

Still it's very early. Patience people. Rome wasn't built in a day.

Chicago actually. Nice city, but far from a dream world.

Can the people who are somewhat in the know state whether they think a loan to MLS would ever be considered?

I don't think MLS will do this unless they get Cooper for 2 seasons, and I don't think ManU would go for that.
