http://www.pasadenastarnews.com/Stories/0,1413,206~11842~1247232,00.html says sales are ahead of projections. says that stadium will seat 23,500 permanently with 2500-3000 temporary on the slope.
Good for the Galaxy and USSoccer overall!! I'm on the other side of the US and still am excited about this.
Possible Lalas Hill Obituary "...There already are discussions for expanded seats on the north end of the stadium. An additional 2,500-3,200 seats behind the north goal will boost the capacity to more than 27,000. Without those seats, the stadium will have roughly 23,500 seats. "Ticket sales and demand are calling for the expansion,' White said. "That decision will be made in the next two weeks, or we'll have to wait until next year...." Bye bye Lalas Hill...
Here's another. Apologies if this has already been posted: Project cost $140 Million By Fred J. Robledo , Staff Writer, Whittier Daily News, 3/15/03 http://www.whittierdailynews.com/Stories/0,1413,207~12035~1247232,00.html Great quote: "With all due respect to Lamar, we're sugar and they're Nutrasweet,' Leiweke said. "It's (Columbus') a great facility and the first to set the tone, but we're building a European-style stadium, complete with a roof that keeps in the noise. "You can take this stadium and put it down in England, and it will be as good as any they have over there.' The Magpie
Reading this articles and seeng this stadium coming to life it is fantastic. I am very happy for you galaxians. Maybe someday I'll be able to visit. Congratulations.
I just found out that the company I work for purchased a luxury box. For a variety of reasons, I can't say exaclty what they paid, but it is about 10% of what one of the best located suites at Staples costs. It looks, however, like this was one of the lower cost suites, with prices about double for the top end ones.
My favorite German Quote: "Tim Leiweke loves to tell the story of Jurgen pounding his fists on the table and saying. 'You're making a mistake. You have to have the roof,' ' White said. "He's (Klinsmann) the one who went with them (AEG) all over Europe to look at the stadiums. And obviously after seeing the other stadiums with roofs on them we said, 'Yep, we need the roof.' I wonder if he will be in a luxury box with Uncle Phil for the first match? We should make a sign thanking Uncle Phil for the stadium and Jurgen for his input on getting the roof.
Re: Possible Lalas Hill Obituary I think the bottom part of Lalas Hill will have the seats. The top part would probably remain the same, and if the whole hill gets seats, that would push capacity around 30,000.
is the galaxy waiting awhile for unveiling cermony of the stadium? this lack of new pictures is making me wonder.
I took some "unofficial" pictures March 9 and Gunner posted them. Thread under Major League Soccer. That's pretty recent.
Re: Re: Possible Lalas Hill Obituary Even if there are seats ON the hill, it will still be Lalas Hill
do they knonw you're a huge fan and would do anything including sharpening pencils for everyone with a cubicle to get the comp seats? if not, you should send out a memo.
Yeah, I am going to do everything I can to weasel myself in there. For once it I am happy that there are not a lot of soccer fans. I am somewhat curious how many of the suites they have sold. Has anyone heard anything?
