The only real surprise is Vela's absence. But I guess he'd rather be starting in a tournament that will give him a good showcase than sitting on bench at one that won't.

For those that watch America more closely, is there any chance Angel can play that withdrawn "enganche" position that Zinha plays. I am getting a little queasy thinking that he will be the offensive conduit.

    My line up

[LINEUP-4-5-1]chicharito, guardado, Gio, torrado, reyna, castro, salcido, marquez, moreno, osorio, corona,[/LINEUP-4-5-1]

Chepo will play barrera for gio and zinha for Reyna.

    Copa America

[LINEUP-4-4-2]Fabian, vela, pacheco, cabrera, jona, pacheco, borelli, magallon, mier, aguilar, michel[/LINEUP-4-4-2]

Feels weird that the Chivas hype did not get any of our players on the list :(

I'm surprised Vela isn't there. I was hoping he'd play both. :/ Hopefully he gets a great showcase in CA. You guys think Gio will play both tournies?

Talavera, Ochoa, Osorio, Lucho, Dueñas, and Sinha have no reason to be on the NT. they need to GTFO!

I honestly think the Copa America team will be better than the Copo Oro team

funny that Vela didn't get called, yet Barrera did

Wow. Leaving Vela out of the Gold Cup squad is pretty risky. Hope it doesn't backfire.

    ah caray....cepillaron a Vela

Frankly, I don't know why he called up both Reyna and Zinha. Reyna is much more mobile and won't get tired by the 35th minute.

I'm surprised he brought Juarez, who hasn't played much this semester in favor of Aguilar although it's understandable since Osorio will obviously start over Juarez.

    Respuesta: Re: Convocatoria Copa Oro

Vela and Jona qualify as sub-22, so I could assume the other 5 will be the overage players... that means that no Michel for Copa América? Orozco is still solid IMO, but it's surprising he isn't listed when Talavera had no a great year, back to his old form in fact.

to be honest, even with his little playing time Barrera has looked better than Vela when playing in the NT.

It's a shame that Mexico has hardly started vela, gio, and cheech together... Vela even with the amount of minutes he has missed in his career has more talents then anyone else taking his position. Just on talent alone, i do not see how you could pass on a player of his caliber. As for copa de oro, i assumed for sure they would take all A team just to be certain they qualified for confederation.. oh well...

kinda disappointed jona will not play in both tournaments. This could have been his chance to show mexico and all his doubters he is our future in the middle. Because we lack great passing in mid field to put our attacking game over the top.

I wonder if Vela knew he was going to play CA when came over for the convocatoria in march because he trained with the U22 for a week.

It could be that he requested to play in CA because it would be a better vitrina if he was thinking about switching clubs.
