Convincing arguments needed

Discussion in 'Chicago Fire' started by FiredUp, Jan 10, 2003.

  1. I have been increasingly attending Fire games every year since their inception. Last year we purchased the 20 ticket voucher pack.

We need convincing in two areas:

    1) Give my wife some good reasons it is good for me to buy season tickets this year. Keep this in mind, my wife will read this post (She is a Fire fan, and she enjoys the Fire almost as much as I do, has enjoyed attending games (except for the YSA chant), reads BS, and beware, sometimes posts in my name). That means keep it sensative (no wife bashing), and be convincing.

    2) Convince me to sit in section 8 - beyond the obvious financial benefit. I have never joined section 8, but am very proud of them (again, except for the aformentioned YSA chant - even if I do find it amusing), and am glad that we have the best fans in the nation. However, I've always enjoyed sitting on the side of the field rather than the end zone. That's my major barrier. Plus I wonder sometimes how much of the game you guys actually get a chance to watch with all your organization. Don't you miss a lot? While I certainly attend to cheer the team, I am there equally as much to watch the game. P.S. - while I enjoy my alcaholic beverages, I will not pursue them to drunkeness. Will that disqualify me anyhow : - )

I can't really give you arguments in favor other than it's a good way to support your club, and maybe you might be able to get into a few games at the start of the season you might not otherwise be able to.

Some people will like sitting in the end, some people will like sitting in the VIP seats.

Some will like buying season tickets, some will prefer buying a game at a time.

    It's really up to you.

And on the drunkenness thing...I will say that an aful lot of people look at Section 8 and incorrectly assume "they're all drunk/been drinking"...while that may be true for a large number, it's hardly all of them, Naperville or no.

We might need a beer or two THIS season, though :-/

  3. Participant or Observer

You can either be part of the fun or just observe the fun. I prefer to be a part of it when I am there. While I don't have season tickets, I go often, I choose my games, and make sure I am close or in section 8. It's your entertainment\sports $. Where would you spend it otherwise? At a Cubs drunk/fight fest? Sox mall? For my $ a Fire game is a heck of a lot more fun, regardless of the outcome of the game.

because you were always living in the red?

    :D

section 8 is incredible no matter what... YSA is dying (the more that don't want it, that step in there, will only help it die)

you save some money, not just by getting season tickets, but by also getting them in section 8... double bonus

from my experience, most people in section 8 aren't drunk or even buzzed at naperville... and the best reason... we have the best fans in all of mls (and i don't mean in just section 8), so be part of that where you want... section 8, sidelines, the other goal... everyone would love to have you and your wife in section 8, but follow your heart

I usually save getting drunk for road trips.
As far as paying attention to the game goes it's either way. You can stand is section 8 and pay attention to every second or you can just be there to enjoy the "ambiance."

  6. Thanks

Thanks guys for the feedback. The jury is still out.

Good news is, I will certainly be at some Fire games this year. Looking forward to seeing you there (and when I say you, I mean 14,000 other fire fans since I obviously have no idea what most of you look like : - ) ).

Besides saving $$$ on a per-ticket basis, you also get a complimentary Fire Media Guide with most season ticket packages. This will come in handy when trying to figure out who the hell that is out there in red this year...
