No surprise really. Rimando playing in Miami is virtually a given. Olsen in the team when healthy is similarly predictable. The only mild eye raiser is Convey, as he is captaining the U-20's as their central attacking midfielder, and he's missing games with them to be on Bruce's team. But, Convey did a stellar job as a right back against Canada, so hopefully Bruce gives him some time in midfield against Argentina and/or Jamaica. -Tron
Convey's inclusion means that Arena is really high on the kid since for the most part this squad looks like Arena's first choice all-MLS team. Possibly Convey is there because Martino is injured, possibly not. What this says now is that of the youth players, Convey is Arena's third choice, behind Donovan and Beasley.
Did anyone notice that on the MLSnet site in their press release they also included: Eddie Pope (DC United) Ouch! Old habits die hard.
This is truely embarrassing, I, really, mean it !!! I have seen greater coaches than Arena making stupid choices like this one, choosing Convey to play against Argentina, when there are in MLS others much better players. For some reason, sometimes, coaches get a fixation with one or two players but,the very good coaches, finnaly, get real and comme back to senses. What is more embarrassing and laughable is this : "stellar job as a right back against Canada" !!... Seriously, I was surprised by this "stellar" comment !! I would never believe it comes from DT! I cannot wait, untill, YOU and ARENA will get the "reality check" after the game against Argentina !!!
