Interesting about Cerritos turning down the national team. Nowak's line that "He [Adu] needs experience, and experience comes with minutes." makes me think Freddy will get the start again.

Whoa, I like the sound of Nowak's special 5-day hamstring recovery treatment!

    Oh dear.

Lots of great stuff in this article.

I really like that Ronald is skipping El Salvador to focus on United, I think he could definietly help this weekend, especially if DC plays with an extra forward out there.

If it only took 5 days to heal Nowak, why wasn't Bobby sent on Monday? ;)

    Some interesting information there!

Amazing story about recovering in five days, here's to hoping that Convey does the same. After watching his runs out of midfield, he is really starting to grow on me.

I'm glad to see that Adu is willing to admit that he played poorly. I was worried that he was losing his humility; it's a nice refresher to see he is still open to learning.

Amazing loyalty from Cerritos, hopefully he can get into games to make a difference, because he seems to really care this year.

I think Cerritos should have accepted the call up. These things don't come around all that often, and if he's not being used consistently by United, then the least we could do is allow him to get some PT on an international stage.

5 days sounds wrong to me. It may have happened once for Nowak, but I doubt it would happen regularly that way.

I realize this would alter the team structure a good bit from what it was with Convey in it but I would like to see Moreno play behind Cerritos and Eskandarian in a 3-4-1-2. I don't have any real rationalization for it, or how I'd lay out the rest of the midfield, but I guess it would be Moreno instead of Gros going in for Convey and playing a bit further forward than Convey would have.

A start for Cerritos and this?

I have never been a big fan of his... but I like to see this. I hope he gets three this weekend. Sir Bobby might be feeling better had he turned down the occasional useless friendly.

    Vamos Cerritos :D

The Cerritos "trade" gossip was being spread by a part-time radio reporter/car dealer who wandered into the press conference room after practice at RFK on Tuesday. (No, I'm not making this up.)

Apparently, he is a 100 percent reliable source of information for the mainstream media and there is absolutely no need to question Cerritos, Nowak, Kasper, Payne, Soehn or Simpson about it.

Must be true -- print it.

    God help us...

Well that certainly puts a whole new spin on things.

Now THAT is funny! And, yes, it certainly does put a whole new spin on things.

The image of some car dealer with his TicTac-over-coffee-breath and his fake-designer clothing and faux jewelry whispering rumors about the players just cracks me up, for some reason.

Or put another way. Suppose a local guy knew Cerritos as well as Chico knows Marco. Would his "news" not be "reliable" for the mainstream media?

Not to say SG is right or wrong, just pointing out that he has a bias as well.

    Wow.

You'll believe just about anything, won't you?

Here's something: I heard that Convey is going to Newcastle. Now since I'm a moderator on this site (and we all know moderators are always right), it could very well be true. After all, it is on the internet.

If you don't believe me, that's just your "bias."

    What a load of crap.

Well, I believe you could have had a decent point if you had taken SG to task for the "car dealer" label. However, in light of the situation, I would say that bias could more appropriately be called "standards".

Now, if you would like to debate the difference between gossip and news, that would be something we could take up in the many USsoccerUK threads.

    Cheers,
    Tim

This is really an amazing quote. Did Freddy really think that at 14 he'd be able to come in and dominate against grown men with at least 4 and sometimes 10 or more years of experience? If so he needs an attitude re-adjustment. Did he really think it was going to be like playing on the U-17s or even the U-20s?

In a word: Yes. Freddy didn't think much of MLS and has been told as much his entire life. Just look around at the threads just before the start of the season - in them posters claim that Freddy is God and will run riot all over MLS. Some are still claiming that despite the facts to the contrary.

Tantalizing that Convey could miss very little time. Viewing either article, think it's a safe bet Cerritos earns some time this Saturday, whether he starts or otherwise. Major props choosing his club over his country for this week, and as such it should be a chunk of time.

Makes it REALLY intriguing who else we'll see and in what form on Saturday.

I'm pretty excited about Gros getting the start.
Convey needs to heal and take a little break
    on those legs of his.

I'm more nervous about when Nelsen leaves us
for two games, is it in June? Convey can be
replaced because I think Gros is damn good and
developing, but Nelsen... I think he means more
to the team as a whole.

It would have been more amazing if he didn't believe he would walk on and dominate.

How could he not? He's dominated everywhere he's played for his entire life up until this point. Intellectually, he may have known it. (and Freddy's a smart kid)
But you really wouldn't believe it until you get manhandled by CJ Brown and Robin Fraser, or outsmarted by vets like Agoos, week in and week out.

and he probably thought he would dominate based on how he did withthe u-17s during training matches against mls teams
