Saw the other article was getting lengthy, so I decided to start a new one.

Not sure what Spurs situation is like, but I'd MUCH rather (as would Bruce) see Bobby starting every week for a D1 club, rather than trying to get into EPL games, and moving back and forth between there, and the reserves.

Lewis did it, and has been much improved.

I would rather he stay in MLS. and try to improve and maybe show some true commitment.

Going to Reading is no better than staying with DC exect possibly for better wages and a little more exposure to English clubs. I doubt it will raise his game any.

If I could look into a crystal ball and know he wouldn't play at Tottenham, then ya. But the team's in transition. They're looking for new blood coming off a crappy season that saw them toy with relegation for awhile. They've cleared house with a new manager and and a new director of football. Bobby's got a chance to get some great experience and some playing time. He should go for it while he can.

Eddie Lewis' move to Preston and regular playing time have certainly improved his game since his days with the Clash. I think a different environment would be the best thing for Convey, whether that be abroad or on another MLS team.

Other than that, Mrs. Lincoln, how did you like the play?

It's just amazing that someone (and it's aLOT of people at bigsoccer) could so blithely ignore the better wages angle.

    I agree.

Heck, I would leave California and move back to Chicago for a 250% pay increase.

Yeah a change could entice Bobby to try harder and want to improve to impress..but thats pure Bobby only, its his choice, it has nothing to do with Reading. So yeah Bobby may raise his own game because he wants to but it will be him that does it not Reading.

It's easy to ignore because BS poster/fan doesn't see the benefit of the pay increase. :)

Don't get me wrong, I'm happy for Bobby - Play on Playa- but I think most fans really want to:

A.- Brag that someone from their team (Bobby) went to an EPL club.
    B. -See Bobby on FSW.

Since niether of these happened, the fans are upset.

superdave please inform me to how the above quote is IGNORING the wage difference???? I think i made it clear Reading would be a better move for pay.

Think outside the box man...or better yet just think.

I agree, it's all up to Bobby - but, I think there's on factor he'll face at Reading that he wouldn't at DCU - the bench.

At DCU, I don't think Bobby would have been benched for any other reason beside injury. At Reading, if he doesn't perform, I'm sure he'll be benched real quick. I'm sure competiton for a starting spot, even in a 1st Div. club, is a little tougher than it is in MLS.

Actually, we have one of the smaller squads, around 19 players. We have no left winger as we released Jon Salako at the end of the season. We have bought Paul Brooker, but he is rubbish.

If we sign Convey for 500k, there is hardly a chance he will be dropped, not for that price tag anyway.

    Hw will be a regualr.

There is no question he will be a better player after a couple of years in Division 1. Just being in significant professional leagues in a bigger pool of extensive high level professionals and cup competition will be a big change. It is really the during the week as well as the game competition that will raise him to the challenge. Actually two years of starting at reading could be just what the doctor ordered prior to World Cup Germany. After that he better be moving to the Premier League in some country.

A 23 YEAR OLD WORLD CUP 2006 MIDFIELDER, WITH EUROPEAN LEAGUE EXPERIENCE COULD TRANSFER FOR BIG BUCKS. (that is making lemonade from lemons though...good luck)

This is were my disagreement lies...I do not see Bobby getting better because the quality of play is better in D1. In fact I believe the quality of play is much closer to par than you think. The style of play is different in D1 as opposed to MLS so Bobby may benifit from playing a different style,( something any player can tell you effects their play).

If Bobby impoves in D1 it will more likely be related to his attitude and a favorable system rather than him simply being a D1 player in D1.

So regardless, if the move is made I hope Bobby puts his best foot forward.

I am a little underwhelmed about his play since the U-20s.Damn, he has missed some shots that we make in our pick-up game every week.
