DC United defeated a Tottenham Hotspurs XI 1-0 that featured Teddy Sherringham, Kasey Keller, Jurgen Klinnsman, Paul Gascione and David Ginola. It was a tribute match and about a third of the players were Spurs regulars while the rest were former stars and reserve players thought to be on the cusp of the first team.

While in London training for the game at White Hart Lane, Tottenham Hotspur coaches were very pleased to see Bobby Convey, Santino Quaranta and Justin Mapp strutt their stuff. Here is a quote from DC United Assistant Coach John Trask talking about Bobby Convey
There is a lot of other good stuff in this article:

Cool. Thanks for the link Tron.

We will see how Bobby does next season in a role where I imagine he should see more responsibility.
It would be nice to see him gain some offers from overseas, but he strikes me as type of player that is a longer term development project than say a striker like Quaranta or EJ. Forward being the type of position where youth sometimes is more valuable than experience, whereas midfield requires more experience.

Yeah, next season really looks like a make-or-break season for Bobby. He figures to have a more important role. It'll be his 4th year as a pro. DCU appears to have turned the corner toward, at least, respectability, and if they can replace Etch and/or Moreno with a high quality import, will be formidable. And they're going to be leaning on Bobby to direct things in the center.

Further, Bruce is going to be casting his net far and wide for the next year. Bobby will get his chance to shine on that stage, too, and if he impresses Bruce, he'll figure in Bruce's WCQ plans.
