What do you think are the most consistent countries in the World Cup? I mean, among countries that took part in several World Cups, which ones have been consistent at being eliminated early as well as reaching later stages?
Shouldn't this be in Tournaments forum? Anyways..... Brazil for qualifying Germany for reaching the knockout rounds Those two nations for general excellence. I suppose I would have to pick Mexico for consistently underwhelming. At 15 World Cup appearances they have the fifth most of any nation. Yet, I would have to say they finished below expectations in just about every world cup for a large latinamerican country with a vibrant well-paying professional league. IMO they have the talent to go to the semifinals yet here they are at 6 straight r16 losses.
I would say overall Brazil, with an honorable mention to USA for always exceeding expectations, other than in 1998. Germany could also make the list for going far, but they just can't win the Cup, so in a way they are a bit of a disappointment.
Germany: 82 final 86 final 90 win 94 1/4 98 1/4 02 final 06 1/2 10 1/2 lol after verification: the last time germany didn't finish in the top 8 of a world cup was in 1950
their last World Cup win was in 1990. 24 years ago. From 1970 to 1994 Brazil stayed 24 years without winning a World Cup. Coincidence?
For it to be a coincidence, Germany would have to have been the champion this year....so it's not a coincidence.
