Don't worry, when Bradley puts out his best 11 it will be Metro stacked. You'll be fine.

I'm greatly amused that Connolly thinks that both DC and Dallas will score more than one goal on Saturday night.

I could see one or the other doing it. Hey, every dog has its day. But both? No chance.

Why keep shooting when you already have a lead?

    "Forward: Brian McBride, Columbus Crew
His footwork has improved to help round out his game. Perhaps his best highlight came on an assist against New England when he showed for a ball outside of the 18, received it and held off his man while defender Eric Denton made a run through the defense, and then calmly heel-passed it with just the right amount of pace to set-up a goal for the unlikeliest of scorers."

Yeah, that was jaw-dropping. Course if somebody else did it, it would've been called "an assist."

Ching over Mathis is a joke too.

yeah, maybe mathis gets the edge but ching has been so much better than expected he probably gets the nod for that reason alone. it's not like Ching's not worthy of being on the list .... but I probably woulda gone with mathis, too.

but mulrooney deserves his slot hands down.

I think Mathis has found his form and is going to tear the league up this year. With Guevara serving him, he is going to succeed big time.
What makes Ching seem like a superstar so far is his A-league history. I have seen him three or four times, he is just above average with a ho hum squad.
Adin and Tim are good picks and although I am biased, I think Kevin Hartmann should be right up there. Granted the Galaxy couldn't beat my U-11 squad right now, but he has kept them in every game this year. On a basis of making huge saves every week, he wins hands down. He is the best keeper in the league who gets no love.

    Hmmm...

Y'know, that wouldn't be a bad lineup for Bruno to use against Aruba/Montserrat/Antigua if it comes to that in the Round 1 quallies...

    Yes, even with Goose...

Ching's back story shouldn't earn him a spot on an all XI. I'm assuming Connolly picked him for his play.

Personally I think Ching has done well but is "a cog" on a good team. Mathis, however, really pulled his team together and scratched up some points when they were not ready for prime time.

If you want to pick more Quakes, think Corrales and Dayak.

whether or not ching is a bigger surprise or not has nothing to do with who the better player is.

his article is entitle Best XI...

if given the choice, who in their right mind would pick ching over mathis right now....

    i guess marc would.....

ok ... maybe I wasn't clear. but I guess what I was trying to get at was that with the losses the quakes had during the offseason Ching has come in and been a big reason why the quakes are unbeaten. sure, in terms of pure talent Mathis is clearly the better player. but Ching has made a huge impact on an unbeaten team and has 3 goals already. not a terrible player to have on the list.

    but he ain't cletus.

&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp Picking Ching over Mathis may be debatable, but Richard Mulrooney definitely deserves a spot on the Best XI thus far.

    debatable?

you're building a team....two strikers to choose from....ching or mathis....who do you pick?

or better yet....you're the coach....bradley approaches you and says, hey....wanna trade ching? i'll give you mathis.... how long would it take you to make that decision?

&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp If Bradley is offering Mathis straight-up for Ching, then either Ching is really good or something is wrong with Mathis... ;)

&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp Most likely, though, Bradley would want Ching and Mulrooney for Mathis. :(

P.S. = And yes, for now I would take Mulrooney over Guavara.

The whole Mathis-Ching thing. The way I see it, Ching has been better overall so far this year, but that's mostly because Mathis, at the start of the season, was getting over his surgery and getting his match fitness back. Over the past few weeks, Mathis has been getting better and better, and will probably, by the end of the year, cement himself as best forward in the league, but he did have a bit of a slow start the first few games. I can live with Ching over Mathis for what has happended in the league so far. I expect Mathis to overtake him with the rest of the season.

    chris...
