This is the most out of touch column that Marc has ever written. The man is on drugs. He's crossed over into Loneyville. Actually, he crossed over and kept right on going straight through town.
From the Column From the "Did you see this?" department, here's what sports media writer John Molori wrote in his latest "Media Blitz" column that appears in several newspapers in the New England area: "ESPN's decision to replace Jack Edwards as lead soccer announcer with Rob Stone is like replacing Elvis Presley with Leif Garrett." For some reason, I think that both gentlemen will take that as a compliment. I don't know exactly what to make of that quote, but for some reason, I find it very amusing.
And just because it's not on "Soccer Saturday," the Fire and the Revs don't get a prediction? Sheesh! Later, COZ
For the most part I agree with his rankings of MLS teams "from a pure excitement standpoint". It isn't meant to be a skill ranking. KC seems a bit low and LA seem high. LA was boring for :85 minutes every week. I'd bet several hundred dollars Mr. Connely hasn't seen 4 front-to-back KC games in the last year, maybe on tape where he can FFWD through everything. KC hasn't been boring since mid 2001. Ineffective, low-scoring, and frustrating? Yes, but flying up and down the wings isn't boring.
