Yes! Your prayers have been answered, southern CT Metro supporters. If you've signed up or are about to sign up for the ESC's road trip to the Gillette on Saturday, September 21 (and you ARE signing up for the biggest road trip of the season, right?), you can have the option of being picked up and dropped off at a stop on I-95 in Fairfield County. Where, exactly? That's gonna be up to you. I've gotten several emails from CT people asking if there could be a CT pickup spot, and so I talked it over with the bus company. It's no problem if there's a serious demand for it, but we need to know ASAP where you want it to be Stamford? Norwalk? Fairfield? It'll involve some coordination on our parts, so I need a head count right away. If you're interested, email me at michaelhkoch@hotmail.com as soon as possible. And if you haven't yet signed up for the road trip yet - why wait another day? This is the ESC's first chance to dominate the New 'Boro like we did the Old; it's a crucial game for both sides, with playoff positions - and playoff lives - on the line. It's a chance for the Metro and the ESC to crush the hopes of a newly resurgent Revs side in the most inhumane and cruel way possible - by stomping them at home and dashing all their hopes of a second season. Metro is laying on the free drinks and the free chairs, and we're bringing the noise. Check out the road trip link here https://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?threadid=2200 for all information, and email me (that's michaelhkoch@hotmail.com) if you've got questions or when you want to sign up - newcomers are especially welcome.
God Mike, any way to get out of driving into NYC to get the bus!!! Guess you don't want a repeat of the DC trip.....
I would consider it. Trying to think of possible sites. Exit 3 in Greenwich would be possible (park in the lot next to the train station, easy on/off in both directions, not sure if that lot charges on Saturdays). Exit 14 in South Norwalk, Exit 17 in Westport are also options with the train station. Exit 10 is also good, because the Noroton train station is about 100 feet from the highway and the parking is free. Very easy on/off in both directions. I don't mind going into the city though, but if the demand is there CT is fine too.
I'm not particularly fazed by a trip down to NJ to pick up the bus, even though it is hours out of my way. This is in response to a couple emails I got asking if a CT stop was possible.
To any of those who are/were interested - there won't be a CT pickup spot on the trip, because the bus company will charge us an large additional fee for the bus to get off the highway up here. If you emailed me about this stop - I'll be emailing you ASAP to work out some way of getting down to NJ. I'm going down to Giants Stadium and will carpool.
