Greetings. Neither the Dish Network nor the DirecTV website are offering any insight regarding the upcoming round of WCQ matches. That may mean that they won't be offered on said satellite providers or perhaps the games will be available and none has gotten around to updating that info on the websites. What worries me is a bit is the fact that beInSports USA (new channel) supposedly purchased the rights to CONMEBOL WCQ. The concern is that what will happen to people that don't have this channel and/or don't have the satellite/cable provider that has this channel? Discuss.
I understand that Phil Schoen will call some eliminatorias CONMEBOL matches. Those will be his first assignments with his new company. Still waiting for distribution info. Should come by middle of this week. Imagina US has millions of things to do in the next 60 days.
Amazing, all european qualification games can be seeing but not one game comes from South America. This PPV model should have disappear years ago, but for some reason no one in this country wants to buy the rights to the CONMEBOL world cup qualifications, and do one that do, only can set it up as a PPV event. Really? The CONMEBOL world cup qualifications, make more money as a PPV event in this country? specially now that Brazil is not in it? I am must be missing something about this business model
I have seen cable indemand schedules: http://indemand.com/product/view/317531 Still no Dish or Direct tv however.
Once the senior executive team is hired at beIN Sports USA, those eliminatorias CONMEBOL matches will be live on beIN Deportes.
Thus, if one has the cable/satellite provider that offers beIN Deportes he/she will not have to go the PPV route?
Games have been listed on the DirecTV guide for a few days now. Here is the info: Saturday, June 2, 2012: 2:00pm Uruguay v Venezuela DirecTV/457 4:10pm Bolivia v Chile DirecTV/458 6:30pm Argentina v Ecuador DirecTV/459 Sunday, June 3rd, 2012: 5:00pm Perú v Colombia DirecTV/457 ----------------------------------------------- Saturday, June 9th, 2012: 4:00pm Bolivia v Paraguay DirecTV/457 6:35pm Venezuela v Chile DirecTV/458 Sunday, June 10th, 2012: 2:30pm Uruguay v Perú (not listed but certainly #457) 5:00pm Ecuador v Colombia (not listed but certainly #458) Price: $29.99 per match. No info on "package" for all matches which is usually offered. All times ET. SA www.socceraction.info
Now that will work for me. I will not change for just La Liga and Serie A but for CONMBEBOL, I will rethink by position. The issue at hand will be Are they launching an HD signal or just SD?
Nothing on the website so I am calling right now to find out. EDIT: just spoke to a rep on the phone - said that he didn't see any such "event" on offer yet in his system so he suggested I call back again either Friday or Saturday (I specifically asked for the Chile-Bolivia game). So a.) he's right and Dish just has not gotten around to it or b.) Dish subscribers like me are screwed and CONMEBOL's WCQ matches will not be available on PPV. huhe?
Hmmm... Al Jazeera (aka BeIn Sports) own the rights. Al Jazeera (News) is available on Dish but not DirecTV. Yet, the qualifiers are on DirecTV but not on Dish PPV. I know this has nothing to do with the ultimate distribution of BeIn Sports but still a "hmmm moment". Bad news....there is no sign of the matches on delayed basis on GOL-TV. Their schedule is not the generic type and looks set for next week. No WCQ matches on GOL-TV. As far as streaming, it will certainly be limited to Al Jazeera Sport from the Middle East. Except for SporTV in Portugal, I do not see any distribution in the rest of Europe. Streaming will certainly be out there but almost guaranteed to be a AJS production. SA
I understand that Luis Omar Tapia and Eduardo Biscayart will call some of the games in Spanish. As for English, we already know about Phil Schoen. I won't be surprised if Ray Hudson were also involved as well.
This representative doesn't know what he's talking about. Dish Network will be showing the Conmebol Qualifiers for June 2012.
