How do you see it? 13 from europe (includes germans) 5 from africa 1 south pacific 5 from asia 5 from conmebol 3 from concacaf, is the right thing for me total 32
Conmebol deserves 5 spots without playoffs no doubt,or why not an extra playoffs? Brazil won the cup so why not.
Decision made....only 4 spots.... too bad....or maybe not....that would mean more competition among us....that is something that could be good. The thing that is really REALLY bad....is that Australia got a clear path to the world cup.... Australia's region is let's say....."less than competitive"....and they got one spot to the world cup....who do you think it is going to take it every year....yep....you guessed it....AUSTRALIA. I mean....the last time around Australia defeated other teams by record figures....31-0, 28-0, etc....and then they never made it because they had to play the fifth team from Conmebol....which made sense.... What is FIFA thinking??? I don't know....that is a really good question.
After I posted....I got what FIFA is thinking..... Man they are sneaky..... By Australia entering the Cup....(like that is not going to happen)....They have the perfect rival for Germany.... I would bet money that Australia will be in the same group as GERMANY....
All what FIFA cares about is money. They just increased the number of spots for those who will spend money filling in the stadiums. They no longer care about quality. A whole spot for Ocenia? Give me a break! Nice way to ruin futbol!

Asia may have more teams than South America in the next WC it seems like a joke! But that is the price to pay since we have almost no votes in the FIFA governing body since there are only 10 countries even Oceania have more votes than we do! Maybe CONCACAF and CONMEBOL should merge and build one strong Panamerican confederation?
I hope that conmebol gets back with the rest of FIFA countries, as they better enforce the release of players for qual games ealier that the rest. why? cuz' now every game, every point has a bigger meaning.... no one can aford a tie at home, if they want a trip to germany (like chilenooooo says) competition just gained the best players for every game, specially vs. venezuela last time all teams lost important pts vs. venecos I am not happy with 4 teams to wc., as I am PO by having the 4th conca team (an island) traveling across the globe to play vs the worse in asia!
I understand your anger, actually I agree in an extent,but just to clarify efer that 4th "conca" place (0.5 spot) you're talking about is that bad for you? SA will demonstrate that they deserve 5.5 spots so let them spit themselves in the face! Jamaica, Trinidad & Tobago, Guatemala and El Salvador (ALL potential 4th places) wont hurt CONMEBOL's chances.
Did anyone else notice that the announcement to hold 2014 in SA came just as Conmebol get shafted of a slot? Now I'm sure that there was more to the decision than this, but the announcement of it at this time seems like an attempt to offset the outrage that Conmebol should have.

I think Honduras IS more of a potential 4th place Watch out US, Mex and CR!!! I'm not getting high or something but at least we are in the right way, we won the gold medal in the CACG vs Mexico.
