Chatgpt thinks the previous manager was making $3 million plus a year at Celtic. If Nancy gets offered close to that it will be hard to turn down. Guessing he is around a million a year for the Crew.
To this day, we STILL don't know why Cucho got suspended for a week for those undisclosed team violations. And it wasn't for a lack of people asking.
Should we have kept Corey Wray? I have to listen to my STL friend swear he will turn them into the next great franchise
IF Issa has given Nancy permission to speak with Celtic, it was without permission of any higher ups. No one was even asked about it. Could Issa and Nancy be doing this on their own? The answer is yes. Issa and Nancy are very close. However, Nancy truly is a honorable person, it would be out of character for him. The silver lining is if Nancy heads to Celtic, Issa’s ass would be grass. Haslam Sports Group got only 2 days advanced notice that Cucho was out. No bueno for him, he’s skating on thin ice. Issa’s tolerated because it keeps Nancy happy.
Everything you post is appreciated and also just makes this franchise sound as dysfunctional and poorly-managed as the other Haslam property up 71-N.
As in, Moreira thinks Nancy is gone and doesn't want to wait to see the replacement, or Nancy didn't want to renew Moreira's contract?
Because Nancy is an unknown commodity in Europe, while Henry is, well, not. Nancy was Henry’s assistant in Montreal. He thinks very highly of Nancy. Now, I always assumed that association would more likely open doors for Nancy in France. But professional soccer is a small world. Listing Thierry Henry as a reference sure as hell can’t hurt.
Hmmm. Well, it’s not good news, but it’s not possible to know exactly what version of shitty news it actually is. His guaranteed contract ends this year and the Crew have a 2026 option. Was he told the team wouldn’t be exercising it? That’s hard to imagine, but I don’t have much faith in our FO. He’ll turn 32 next year, and isn’t at his 2023 form. In any event, if Nancy leaves, losing Moreira - however it happens - is the least of our worries.
The insta post is indeed grim. He says "its not the ending that I wanted" and thanks the fans and his teammates for everything.
Could be the playoff loss, sort of a last dance situation... for Nancy? Himself? Both? Could be a simple misunderstanding, could've been an inconveniently timed schedule post. The fact that it happened just a few hours after all the Nancy rumors/news is quite curious though. I'll be honest, if it was November 2024, I'd be shitting myself. Now, let's be honest, he was always coming down from Defender of the Year honors. He's in his 30's. The age curve is undefeated. If he leaves now, it sucks, but not as big a loss as it would've been a year ago. At this point, if Nancy leaves, and the Haslams don't like Issa, just blow the whole damn thing up. Back up the Brinks truck to Bez's house. If that doesn't work... not sure what direction they go in. Without Bez or Nancy there to guide a decision though, I'd be concerned. I know MLS has a firm or two that helps teams make hirings, MLS has an internal list of possible GMs etc, but that rarely works out it seems like.
Ive heard grumbles about how the academy was handled a couple years ago no real information just people not happy
Sounds like the Crew is in self destruct mode because HSG has no idea how great we had it and how difficult it is to build because they inherited Bez and he was the one who built this thing no thanks to them. As we rebuild all the pillars are gone once Nancy heads out. Everything left will be melted down and we will need to pray and hope for a Miracle to once again save the Crew… To purify us to the Black n Gold standards of excellence.
This is the silver lining as far as I’m concerned—Issa getting his ass sacked. That could also open the door for Courtois to come back as coach. Problem is—we’re dealing with ownership that owns the Clowns, and I say that as a Browns fan. The Meddlin' Truckstop Owner is pretty much gonna do his meddlin’ no doubt. And will they bring in a good GM or just a Yes Man?
Don't let facts get in the way of a good narrative. He still insists that Nancy is a victim of circumstance who has less input in roster decisions than Jimmy and Dee.
He was pretty much their first hire, right? Do you have a sense of how that happened? What I wonder is whether Pete Edwards was involved in bringing Bez to Jimmy’s attention.
Let me reword that , Bez fell into HSG lap You are correct and admittedly I credit Edward’s for everything positive and Haslam for everything negative because this same fool owns the Browns and has done a horrible job. The one decent team they had they got rid of Baker and sold the farm on Watson. I think Haslam is a slime ball like Precourt he just actually has a lot more money. Wanted to change the team name & colors so I will never look upon him favorably.
For all the failures of the Browns, at least HSG invests in the team. They “try” to win and the fans get excited for that. In MLS, it would very easy for a club to sit on an open DP slot or two and say the options just weren’t there. We sold Cucho, we tried to replace him. Fast forward and it’s a forgettable season. Get the ********in roster set in December and compete all season. It’s been done before.
With the change on schedule, i think we can (and should) have higher expectations for this, once the change occurs
That is true but they still has to hire him. There was a member of this board that really helped make it happen.
