Manchester United will appoint Jose Mourinho as their new manager, BBC Sport understands. Mourinho has been out of work since he was sacked by Chelsea in December. With United failing to qualify for the Champions League under Louis van Gaal, the Old Trafford hierarchy are thought to have decided a change is required. It is understood a deal with Mourinho was agreed in principle before Saturday's FA Cup final victory against Crystal Palace. The club plan to announce his arrival early next week after telling Van Gaal his reign has come to an end. The Dutchman still has one season remaining on his three-year deal, but despite spending £250m on new players, his tenure has disappointed many fans, the club finishing fourth and then fifth in the Premier League. Van Gaal's grip on his job has seemed increasingly fragile this season, with Mourinho known to covet the task of masterminding a revival at United three years after legendary former manager Sir Alex Ferguson stepped down. Was about to post that, hopefully this is Jose who played with Robben Duff with Drogba upfront and Essien, Lampard midfield. And we move according to that plan.
So that is sorted, can we sort out the players please. Sane, James/another 10/11, Laporte and a midfielder please.
I'm okay with adding a fullback and actually using TFM in MF all season, or using TFM, Varela and CBJ has the back up fullback. It is too much to get 6 signings considering 5 of them need to be top players.
734115013682733057 is not a valid tweet id Which is why I have warmed up to the idea of getting Zlatan for 1-2 years.
Think we are fine at fullbacks, Varela, Valencia, Darmian.Shaw, Blind and Borthwick Jackson for one season is fine. We have bigger problems but do not think 2 CBs is what we need.
Also keep in mind that the league in general is garbage. We went 1 win in 10 games (?) and finished 5 points behind 2nd and with a trophy. There isn't that much separating our squad vs Arsenal or Spurs. Of course, United fans do and should have higher expectations.
