One of the staples of the festive atmosphere at the Cotton Bowl has been added to the list of prohibited items at Dragon Stadium: Confetti. "Prohibited items will be confiscated. Individuals in possession of such item(s) may be denied entry to stadium, ejected, arrested, prosecuted and may be denied entry to future games"
I am sure glad Frisco was approved because this gets better all the time. Did anyone do any research before deciding on this venue? Hopefully everything will be allowed again at Frisco.
GD IT!!! I just saved up this whole bag for when we kick the gals asses on Saturday. What a load, 2005 won't come soon enough.
According to the Dallas Burn Fan Guide included with my Flexipasses. Prohibited Items include: Food and Drink of any sort (except for Medical purposes) Alcoholic beverages Illegal drugs Weapons of any kind Coolers or containers, including cans or bottles Flag poles in excess of 36" Confetti Fireworks Pets (except service animals assisting those with disabilities) Strollers or baby seats Laser pens Other items that are judged to pose a safety hazard or diminish the enjoyment of the match for other patrons. Another highlight includes: Banner Policy - To maintain our image of having the best fans in Major League Soccer, stadium management reserves the right to approve all banners, due to space availability, banner size or message content. Banner pole must not exceed 36".
Is it 2005 yet? Cripes. This is getting worse and worse all the time. I'm surprised that they haven't announced a free cockpunch for everyone entering general admission. Is someone asleep at the wheel over on Quorum Drive? Or is "putting the fans through two years of this crap" someone's idea to make us really, really appreciate Frisco two years from now?
Oh screw this! Bring the confetti, bring the banners, bring the drums, bring the noise, bring the rude chants, bring the noise, bring the spirit, bring the heart! This is soccer! This is Dallas Burn!!!!!
I think someone here just needs to place a phone call to the right person at the Burn and the stadium. The DC supporters groups had a meeting a few months ago with DC United, RFK and their security group and we hashed out what the groups could bring in and do in their sections vs the general public (such as La Norte can still toss toilet paper on the field before the game and after a goal, United will help us bring in and store all of our banners, we're looking into getting a smoke machine, etc.). If you need some backup, contact one or two operations directors at other clubs that do allow the items you're trying to bring in. We really want a smoke machine so I contacted the O.D.s at Crew and Chicago and the info they provided really helped us sell it to RFK and United. I know in Columbus they don't allow confetti because it clogs up their drainage system (or so they say, maybe they just don't want to clean it up). Maybe that rule REALLY doesn't apply here. The banned list here doesn't say anything about streamers, bring those instead. Can't wait to visit your new stadium, congrats on getting that done. K
WTF?!?!? First no beers. Then no banners or flags. And now no confetti? What's next no loud cheering? The people at Dragon Stadium are killing the passion, the atmosphere and the spirit that soccer matches are supose to be. Did the Burn's GM and management knew about what type of people these Dragon-heads were dealing with? This isn't a quiet youth soccer league match. This is MLS. We're surpose to have banners, beers, loud cheering, flags and confetti. F*** that prohibition. Bring them on.
Hah. Don't forget the remote / satellite tailgating section over the hill and through the woods. Screw the anti-confetti. Throw it. They can vaccum it up when they vacuum the field after the game. I highly doubt anyone gets tossed for throwing confetti. Like they don't get a little of that at HS football games. Is a smoke bomb a fire work?
Methinks I would like to hear chants of "Dragon Stadium Sucks!" over and over again. Something to make the authorities mad without giving them reason to hate you.
Behavior Policy Besides their lengthy list of prohibitted items, the Burn have come up with a "behavior policy" for us to follow. From the team's latest email: "Behavior Policy - The Burn strictly prohibits and will not tolerate the following behavior, which is cause for ejection from the stadium and loss of entry privileges, and may be cause for arrest and prosecution: Selling or otherwise distributing alcoholic beverages or any other drug or intoxicant Entering the playing field without proper authority Loitering in the aisles Engaging in rowdy, profane, abusive, inconsiderate, drunken, or other inappropriate behavior Fighting Throwing of any object that is may considered dangerous to others Causing property damage of any sort If you witness any prohibited behavior, please notify the nearest Event Staff member of the exact location (section, row, and seat) where it took place so that the appropriate measures may be taken. Your identity will be kept confidential."
Re: Behavior Policy I can't decide if I want to go dressed in a tux or a general's uniform... I'm leaning toward the uniform so I can go on the field with "Authority"!
Revolution Now! At least they didn't say nuthin' about our music. I'm gonna look for a washboard this week and turn it up to 11.
