I have been trying soooo hard to like Arsenal, but when I watch them I feel nothing. I am totally ambivalent when they score. All of you Arsenal fans have been great to chat with, but I am only kidding myself about which club I have been following the last 2yrs...Man Utd. I know this is treasonous, but I guess I was only going along with people who responded to my posts and desperately trying to please my English friend living in Chicago. He is HUGE gunner. I have to be honest with myself. I am not one of those militant sports fans that rips other teams/clubs fans. I wish I could continue to post here, with real questions. Love talking about football...still new and exciting the more I learn.
I still believe that Arsenal is the best side right now and will probably snatch up another double, but Utd is my club.
Good luck to you all and God bless,
    Patrick

    Gee thanks! HELP ME THEN!!

I mean doesn't it seem fishy that I am a Gunner now that they are DESTROYING people. I bet if I supported any other club you wouldn't care or would you.
Trust me I am torn over this. Gunner fans have been awesome to me and Utd fans have rubbed their nose up at me. Supporting Utd feels like a typical non-New Yorker backing the Yankees, BUT backing Arsenal now makes it look like I am a gloryhound, which I REALLY HATE.
    ARRRRRGGHHH!!!
    HELP!

Support Queens Park Rangers! Then no one can accuse you of being a glory hound. They are currently in the 2nd division, but have seen better days in the past. One of their most famous supporters is Robert Smith of the Cure.

Anyway, supporting them will fill most English supporters with pity and questions about your sanity... :)

Like he says in "Fever Pitch": "Maybe I should support a team like Orient who never win anything"

Look, thanks for your interest, but you'd sell out United? If you supported United and had even a thought of switching allegiances, then perhaps you need to reasses your support in the first place. I support Arsenal (through several twists of fate) and now, no matter what happens, I could never turn my back on them now, no matter what.

As Homer Simpson says: "Hey, you chose fruit (United), you live with fruit(United)!"

How someone could be confused as to whether or not he supported Arsenal (the divine) or Manchester United (cabrones y putas todo) is quite beyond my capacity to understand.

Support SUNDERLAND instead! They need a lot of support if they were to stay in the Premier League.

That's my dad's team cos that's where he's from and my ancestors, but since I was born in London, I support Arsenal! I still support Sunderland though, as my 2nd favourite.

Whatever you do, don't go off and support T*tt*nh*m H*tsp*rs!!!

Great, get on with it Patrick

Am I the only one completely ambivalent to all these posts about which team to support? Respectfully, I am tired of all the whinging about it and tortured soul melodrama. Pick a team, don't pick a team, support three teams, but get on with it already and leave us be. I love my Gunners and I live and die by them, I don't know why, I just do. I love meeting fellow Arsenal supporters (Like the founding member of Arsenal's Israeli Supporters Club whom I met by chance the other day - so cool) but I also love to meet anyone who has an interest in the Premiership. In this country it is rare to find someone who can have an intelligent, informed conversation with you about the league we all obsess over. So, Patrick, I don't begrudge you supporting Man U, frankly I don't give a **** who you support. I am happy to hear that there is another football fan running around the states, but please don't give us a bad name by continuing to post these vapid pleas for us to convince you of Arsenal's merits as a club. Support Man U and revel in the great talents of its palyers, enjoy being a part of great rivalry and a great league. But get on with it.

Always support the team you start with and dont let things change after your first experience. If you are a ManUtd supporter dont change for the sake of a friend as that friendly rivalry tends to be fun. I believe football is a sport where one needs to truly have an emotional attachement to a team; if its not there dont bother.

errr... If I can remember correctly, I used to support Chelsea for a while when I was small. That was the first team I started to support when I got into football! Mainly because they were wearing blue uniform and blue was my favourite colour - still is! lol I was only about 8 yrs old at that time. I decided to support Arsenal cos of my friends at primary school. I don't think I knew anyone who supported another team, apart from Arsenal. Only a few supported West Ham, cos they live in East London. Also, my cousin support them so I just followed her. Don't know why I didn't follow my dad who support Sunderland though

I am in the city, but actually live downtown (river north) so grace is a bit far for me, but I will make it a point to catch a game there soon, sounds like a good place. I watch all my games either at home on my dish or at Fado which is right by my place. Not many Gooners at Fado, but it is usually empty and very close to my place. I will check out Ginger's for the next live game though!

Teenage rebellion has a lot to answer for.

At least you grew out of your Chelsea phase, after age 8 :)

Think of it as fancying East 17...
