Its that time of year again, lots of great college soccer action.

The MAC conferece tourney opens next Thursday with NIU vs Bowling Green at Akron, Ohio. I hope the weather stays friendly enough all over the country to allow for some good soccer to be played.

    Maryland 1
    UNC 0
    Hall - 13'

Sandon's boy Hall with a great goal. Costanzo with a good cross played in from right side of box to Hall on the left, controls with his chest and sends rocket into right side of goal. Maryland dominated possession in the first half, hit a post and crossbar in the second half and had Townsend denied 1v1 on the keeper.

UNC's best scoring chances came in the second half, but they were denied by some good keeping by MacMath and team defending from Maryland.

    UVa 4
    Duke 2

Cavs first two come via PKs and last two from Ownby getting in behind Duke's backline.

That win should be enough for UVa to sneak into the NCAAs.

They only have one bad loss - VCU - and a couple of decent wins over UNC and now Duke plus being in the ACC semis with a winning record. It's not a slam dunk, but it should get them in.

As for the ACC Tournament, I fully expect them to get pimp-slapped by the Wake machine. If the Cavs lose by 2 goals or less, it's a moral victory.

worst thing about this is that if Duke gets in the NCAA (and with 17th in RPI - they probably should), they will be losing 2 more players from suspension.

Cole Gross picked up a red card for dissent with 30 seconds to go - dumb.
Christian Ibeagha picked up his 5th yellow card.

With season-ending injuries to Dugoni and Bethel and someone else that slips my mind for now, Duke is going to have a tough first game!

i believe the 5 yellow cards rule does not carry over to ncaa tournament play...

You're probably right. I wasn't sure so I asked the SID and she said that it did. But, she may have been thinking about ACC tourney.

The SID is right. The suspension carries over into postseason play (conference or NCAA tournaments).

Actually, when postseason play begins, the number of accumulated yellows that warrant suspension jumps to eight. So, if a player enters the postseason game with four, picks up his fifth in the postseason game (as happened here), that simply gives him five toward his accumulation of eight (page 84 of the rule book).

I post all of the goals from the TV games each week on my website. Have a look at this past weekend's goals- www.gocollegesoccer.com

Looks like there are at least 10 games this coming weekend- 3 Big 10, 3 Big East, ACC Final, MAAC Final, C-USA Final, And MVC Final. I will put the goals up from these games on Monday morning.

The site is still being built, so I apologize for not having all of the features up and running. Any questions, comments, or suggestions are more than welcome. Thanks!!

NIU over Bowling Green 2-0, NIU dominated 80-90% of the match. BG worked hard, but it was just not their day today.

Buffalo over FAU 6-0, it was ugly...how did FAU beat DUKE ??. Dan Bulley gets a hat trick It rained all day yesterday and last night, so the pitch is very wet and slippery. Akron might not have much of a pitch left by Sunday.

Hartwick and Western Michigan are playing as I type.
