    Confederations Cup Viewing?

Any word on Confed cup viewing in the South bay? I don't get Galavision or Telefutura. It would be nice if someplace could pick up the live feed so we wouldn't have to watch it on tape delay.

    Confederations Cup Viewing?

It'll be on tape delay around 7PM on the spanish speaking channels. There won't be any live coverage on ESPN or FOX.

    Confederations Cup Viewing?

I believe Telemundo is carrying a few games. I saw where they will feature games with Japan and Argentina. Also, they will carry the USA/Brazil game live. Details to follow.

From what I gather the Turkey and Cameroon matches are being shown tape delayed on Galavision. The USA / Brazil match is being shown live at 3pm edt on Telefutura which isn't widely available. So I get to see the Turkey and Cameroon matches but not brazil on DirecTV.

When do the games start and when does the US play? I haven't been following any of this at all.

Most of the games will be on Galavision, a few will be on Telefutura, and the final will be on Univision. These channels are all part of the Univision corporation. None will be on Telemundo, which is a separate network owned by NBC.

The schedule for USA's 3 group matches:

6/19 vs. Turkey Galavision 7 pm PT and ET
6/21 vs. Brazil Telefutura NOON PT (live)
6/23 vs. Cameroon Galavision 7 pm PT and ET

In the Bay Area, Telefutura is available over the air on channel 66, KFSF, and on most Comcast cable systems it is channel 20. I believe that KFSF is also in the Bay Area local channels packages for both DirecTV and DISH, but don't quote me. I have read that DirecTV has added a national feed of Telefutura as well, but I don't know those details. Galavision is a cable/satellite channel only, and is on most Bay Area Comcast systems (but not mine :( ).

The info on the USsoccer site is wrong except for the Brazil match.
They haven't fixed it since the network decided to delay all the weekday matches until evening.
EDIT: The finally fixed it. :)

    US Soccer TV Schedule

The best site I've seen for the past 4 years for soccer on US TV is soccertv.com. They have an email list sent out very frequently with updates and changes and cover all soccer on every network shown in the US, no matter how obscure.

    Highly recommended.

I have only basic cable in Redwood City, but luckily Comcast cable has Galavision on channel 74 (next to Fox Sports en Espanol on 72). Yay! :)

Telefutura is broadcast channel 66 in the Bay Area, KFSF are the call letters. Apparently they are based in Vallejo. Check your cable guide to see if it's one of those channels you flip past. Or, get DirecTV with Local Channels where it comes in on... channel 66. (DirecTV gets Galavision too. This message brought to you by the "Cable Sux" foundation.)

Enter "Copa Fifa" into your search function and you'll find all of the programs that you're looking for. Oh, you don't have a search function? You have cable? Sorry.
Bill, can I be a charter member of that foundation?

Although I also believe cable sucks and love my DirectTV/TIVO combo, I cannot find anything but the live brodcast of the US/Brazil on Channel 66. The other US matches are not listed: live, tape, or otherwise...

Really? All of the Confederations Cup games show up as "Copa Fifa" and they all show up in my category wishlist for Sports/Soccer, or if I search for the title "Copa Fifa".

Maybe you've programmed out the Univision and Galavision channels on your receiver? Go to "Channels you receive" and make sure that the 4xx channels are checked. Programs will only be available to be recorded if the channel is on the "Channels you receive" list. Univision is 402 and Galavision is 404. They are both available in any of the "Total Choice" packages -- you don't need to subscribe to "DirecTV Para Todos" to get them.

Not sure if my cable has Galavision. So does anyone know what bars or restaurants are showing the games?

The Mad Dog to the rescue!

According to the Mad Dog hotline, they will be showing ALL of the Confed Cup matches.

I don't think the hotline has been updated to reflect the new times (Galavision has made a change and will be showing some matches, including US matches, on delay).

But, again, they seem to be showing all the matches. There was no mention of cost, which makes me think it will be free. They charge up to $20 for England qualifiers and other matches they have to pay for, but they are usually pretty good about not charging for any match available on free TV/cable. That's just my guess, though.

    Hotline number: 415. 442. 7994.

    Hope to see folks there.

PS: Hope y'all won't be too depressed after Wednesday night. Heh.
    Cheers.

    Confederations Cup Viewing?

I was watching the Quakes on TV on Saturday at The Brit Almaden, not normally my local but I just happened to be there, and the bartender, a Quakes fan, wasn't sure if the pub got Galavision, but that if they did, they'd show the USA Confeds games.

He said call closer to the date to confirm whether they could receive that channel.

The Brit Cupertino also said a similar thing, as the current owner is a fan of the US Men's National Team, although he was surprised when I mentioned that this event was happening in just a few days, his mind being on the more profitable (for him) Rugby World Cup or whatever it is.

As for Telefutura, I guess the same applies.

I'm fortunate enough to have recently bumped into a fellow football fan (who originally alerted me to this event) on my old turf of RWC so that's my fall back plan, plus, like most people, I get Univision anyway so that's sorted.

But as I'm driving back on Thursday from the Quakes at LA Wed night (taking two Studio City friends to the new stadium and trying to convert them into "soccer" fans) it works for me if one of these South Bay locations has the US vs Turkey game. Hopefully there'll be a few other US supporters at these venues (if it's on) thus encouraging the management to be enthusiastic about it.

Enjoy the Confeds Cup. I've never bothered with it before to be honest, but now I'm a US citizen and my interest in the national sides grows, the time has arrived to make this "pseudo World Cup" a part of my football watching experience. Should be fun.

    COME ON U.S. !

Completely by accident I just stumbled upon GALAVISION on my Comcast Cable System.

It's on Channel 67. Check your own system, you might be pleasantly surprised.

Now I've got Gala and Univision, all I need to ferret out is that bloody Telefutura bollocks, and I'm well sorted.

So forget the pubs and watching it with the Spanish commentary turned down, now I can improve my Spanish and enjoy my Fat Weasel beer at a fraction of the price I'd be paying for Fullers or a Black & Tan down the pub.

Thanks Bill. I found Thursday's game hidden in my channels. Didn't find a listing for Monday's US game though...

Well, I've got Univision and Telefutura, but no Galavision. Comcast Digital, Mountain View. Ch. 67 is static, and the previously suggested ch. 74 doesn't exist here. And Galavision's not available on our Spanish tier premium channels (low 600s), either.

I think the cable companies are all inconsistent because when AT&T Broadband acquired various local cable companies, they never standardized the service or the channels available. Then Comcast acquired AT&T's mess, and still hasn't standardized; who knows when/if they will.

I just called Mad Dog and they are showing the US vs. Turkey game on Thurs. at 4pm. Yes, 4pm and not the delayed 7pm.

&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp Where I live, until somewhat recently Galavision was on Channel 67 for Comcast Digital (and for Comcast Basic Cable too, I suppose).

&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp Apparently Galavision was since removed from the lineup, though, and I can't find it on the Comcast lineup anymore. :(

    &nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp GO EARTHQUAKES!!! :(

Generally the satellite dishes show the East feed for a given channel, not the West feed. I don't know if the Mad Dog has a dish, but they probably do, and that's why they are showing the game at 4 PM.
